| Quote: Halifax RLFC "guys
this is a really important decision today.
The RFL has finally recognised that here in Halifax we have a stadium worthy of a World Cup game, and a Council who now recognise that Rugby League is the best way of promoing the Town and the Stadium, as well as being a potential money spinner
if we as a Town and more importantly we as rugby supporters make this game a huge success, it will be one in the eye for those who turned us down for Super League Here, here.
and it will also establish the Shay as a potential international and national venue for important rugby league games. Our location right in the middle of the M62 corridor is a huge benefit for us . . . we now have to show the doubters that Halifax is indeed a Rugby Town. If the shay gets chosen for future big games it only adds to Fax's value to the RFL
So its in our best interests to try and get a full house or at least a respectable crowd for this game
as staff we shall be doing everything to make sure that it runs perfectly
BUT we shall need all your help to fill the place on the night
hope you will see the advantages for Fax and do all you can to help

| Would be good to try and get Greg Florimo involved in some way, wasn't he italy's U23 coach or something similar at one point? i for one would certainly turn up at a pre-match reception that featured such a true great

| Hey don't knock it! I went to a Lebanon v Ireland game at Dewsbury which ,on paper, doesn't look the most attractive fixture but it was a belting game.

IIf its the RFL organizing things I can see a small crowd turning up. If Fax are allowed to get involved then it would see a bigger crowd. As I said to Pete Emmett on the phone Alitalia Airlines sponsor the Rugby League European Federation and fly to London And Manchester daily . Maybe try and get them involved and promote the World Cup and the Italkian games in their inflight magazine with maybe tickets to win. Get hold of the Italian Embassy and try and find and get organizations like the British and Italian Society www.british-italian.org/pages/links.htm . Instead of just promoting to the usual suspects the game needs to sell the world cup and each game to as many people as possible. Sadly the RFL and the RLEF have people who cant see further than past their own nose and wont do that much to push things

Why don't we (HX RLFANS) open one for the duration of the tournament? Bit like a fly-by-night Christmas shop. We'll make a right packet. Come to Captain Cook's on Pellon Lane for some authentic Tongan World Cup kwizzeene.

| Club should see if Asa Amone is still living in the UK and use him as an ambassador for the game. One of the great Tongan exports to Fax to my mind and a nice bloke too.

Agreed. I can see England v NZ or Australia anytime. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the "other" teams. My best memory of a RLWC was the PNG v Tonga game in 1995 at the Boulevard. A Cracking game.
