Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

No disrespect, but with the state of the ground and to be fair the state of the area, and the economy in that area, how much could they raise as a loan? and with their gates how would they pay it back?
I have gone on record as saying I wish Barrow were still in our league and I wish them well.
But,
As I said , it's a mess

| If they go bust then Des would lose his money I guess - Karma?
They may then be able to start again without all this hanging over them.
Would feel for anybody else though who is owed money.

i think if they go bust they could lose the ground,if that happens they've nowhere to play, it wouldn't take long for another supermarket or another housing estaste to go up.

Fair point.
It really looks to be a dire situation but I wish them all the best in getting out of it.
Likewise you Leythers.

Wouldn't get a supermarket going on it, its over the road from tesco and about a mile from Asda
houses however, its surrounded by them, but who's buying houses right now?

Being close to competitors hasn't stopped Tesco's and Morrisons expanding into
Leigh this year
But yes you are right , land values are down at the moment , but it is still an asset that could easily be borrowed against

What about sainsburys ,aldi or lidl or morrisons.
house builders buy land and sit on it till the market picks up then they either build on it or sell it to other house builders.
how about a b&q warehouse.

Barrow for Super League 2015: |

The club will not be going into administration as they would lose Craven Park which is, believe it or not, a very valuable asset (approx £4M). The new BOD have already stated that the debts will be re-structured and paid off over a longer term (10 years) - ie mortgaged against Craven Park.
The option I would look into would be to sell Craven Park, pay off the debts, bank a few bob and buy into groundshare with Barrow AFC - either at a new stadium or refurbished Holker Street (BAFC). As you can imagine, the groundshare issue is a bit of a hot potato - especially with our Wendyball friends.
It may be seen by many as a ehole, but Craven Park is an asset that secretly most Championship and Championship 1 Chairmen would love to own. The new BOD at Barrow have actively backed the ground develoment fund over the last 18 months (something that DJ didn't) so you'll find that even if a groundshare doesn't come about in the short/medium term, the old girl that is Craven Park will get knocked into shape with increasing speed.

If you fancy ground sharing, don't refer to football as "Wendy Ball"
They don't like it.
They much prefer "girlies game"

Which is why I said it was an asset you could easily borrow against to buy yourselves time to sort out the current problems
Which is why those debts will not spell the end of BRRLC
Nowt wrong with CP ( apart from the floodlights ) IMO , it serves it's purpose , more important owning an asset ( well most of it ) that can generate income at our level , than having stands full of empty seats
I along with most Leigh and Championship fans wish you well for the future , a strong Barrow Raiders is a needed commodity in the Championships , all the best

My advice would be only sell the ground as a last, last, last, death's door resort. Once you've sold it once then that's your lot - see Leigh, Swinton, Doncaster etc for reference.
