beswick i was told that he had been training too, but hes not taking a pay cut which is preventing us signing more players. fair do's to the lad if hes already signed a contract, everyone has bills to pay.

I wonder if he earns more than me? I suspect so. Would he get a better contract somewhere else? I think not

But if your boss said he would pay you x amount and then a few months later said, oh we have made a mistake you now have to take a pay cut, you wouldnt be too happy would you? The club has done the dirty on some players and some of hem are dragging their heals and you cant blame them really. A massive shout out to Matt Calland and Penky who have taken a pay cut to play for the Blue and Whites next season.

Though he may have turned down offers elsewhere better than 'new' deal as original Fax contract was better? Tough situation all around IMO.

to be fair it was the RFL who have cut the amount allowed to pay wages after they signed the contracts.

Come on mate, Halifax announced these deals of big players very close together when it was already known their was a movement to reduce cap so you got all signed up and then asked for dispensation. Nothing wrong really as no laws against it, but maybe Fax were hoping for longer excemptions that haven't come?

Unfortunarely that won't pay a mortgage if knocking a few K off contract! Especially as our players are only part time every few hundred could make a big difference on top of other work.

You may have a point but you can only speculate as to whether Halifax or any other club were aware of any future salary cap issues that could impact on their respective players contracts. The only fact here is that the players WERE signed up and then the RFL changed the criteria. Im not knocking any player that insists on their original contract remaining intact, should that be an issue, but credit also has to go to anyone who has taken a pay cut to remain at the club, starting with the coach who set the example in the first place .

agree, but i think the RFL also altered the cap halfway through last season again for this year and therein lies the problem.

The win bonuses come in handy though...
