Of our regular squad from this year, we have lost some decent players, but also all of those were injured for a lot of the season - like Duffy, Morrison and Fletcher. The addition of Haggerty, Pickersgill and Allen to the forwards should serve us well. We do also have quite a few youngsters, and whilst none of them have shown to be world beaters as yet, they will have the benefit of experience and hopefully physically matured from last year. We have a lad in the academy who is an absolute monster and was surprised he didn't get much of a look in this year, but he is young and not much point rushing him through before he is ready.

i wouldnt say that fax fans are arrogent so much as confident about what we have.

i think what we lacked last season was obviously a stand off and now we have one of them that should be that position filled.

another thing we lacked was composure in the big games and in the big situations and we have signed 2 experianced lads from super league who i think will bring a calming influance to the team in those big situations.

so from last year where a grand final was reached and but for Blacky's butterfingers moment a northern rail final would have been reached as well.

i think that most fax fans are basing things on last season and thinking well its an improved squad from last year so maybe the team can go one better.

i would be fibbing if i said i didnt think we had a good chance to win the league and get to the grand final.

but i would think that Barrow and Widnes will also be thinking they are in with a chance of the final.

Supprised Almost everyone has Batley in the bottom 3. For the second half of last season we were the 2nd best team in the league behind the Eagles (results based). We have made some good signings, and replaced Mennel with 2 good halves in Kyle Wood and Gareth Moore to play alongside Handforth, (who Rhino rates as the best halfback in the league), and of course the best coach in the league in Big Karl who will have a full pre season with his own squad. I just hope we continue to go under the radar and the Championships players underestimate us as much as a lot of the fans seem to. Rhino is very optimistic for the coming season and so is everyone at Mount Pleasant. See you all in 2010.

Think we will finish 1st or 2nd. Widnes in 8th is not surprising imo, even think Leigh could leap frog them as they always do well against Widnes

. My predictions are made on the signings made in the close season, the retained players from last season, last seasons form and gut instinct. Barrow having Rooney perminantley with their existing squad will be strong. Halifax with Stan the man will be dangerous, but like last season wont have consistency. Sheffield are in my opinion the best coached team in the division and in the 2nd half of last season were the form team. I feel Widnes will be weaker this time than last. Mount Pleasant will once again become a fortress under Karl Harrison as it was under David Ward 15 years ago, but you are right I am on drugs, i just licked a spoon with Calpol on it! its gorgeous. You keep your head in the sand, Widnes are ace and will win everything

I think that's a fair assessment by Mr T. By the way - I love going to Batley. It's a great atmosphere and the barbie-in-the-car-park is inspired, as is the rock band in-a-truck. It's always a good day out.

Widnes fans are going to have to get over this inferiority complex that some of them have. Opinions are just that, opinions. On one hand though we all know Widnes wont win the league but where abouts they finish outside the top four we wont know until the end of the season.
