| Hard to add much but the title of the thread is very apt.
That was woeful and I will say again that I do not think KH is the man to take this club forward. Something I have banged on about in the past but how many players have improved under him and his coaching staff? If anything we have a team with bags of talent that is either simply treading water or in some cases going backwards. Would the same happen under a different coach?
Like someone has said im not sure what is going on with team selection but by the sounds of it Rettie and Fieldhouse are both fit so we can only assume they have both been dropped yet as has been mentioned we start the game with a winger, centre and second rower all playing out of position in the backs. How are the players supposed to get anything going when there is no stability. I actually think that KH will be disappointed that Tyrer has started the season so well because Im pretty sure his plan would have been to go with Heaton and Cowling in the centres. Luckily for him Worrincy is injured so he does not have to field questions from fans as to why he is not in the team and how he has gone from looking like one of the best wingers in the league to a player who cant get a game.
Im sorry but a lot of that comes down to coaching and Harrison`s one approach for all players just does not cut it.
For me the board have to act, they want bums on seats but that will not happen with the rugby that is been served up. If they dont then crowds will continue to drop and we dont stand a cat in hells chance of finishing in the top 2. If they make the change now then you never know we might actually get a coach who can bring the best out in the players.

| Well after reading all the postings and mulling things over about the game and so
........ One cannot fault the effort of either team. No one drops the ball deliberately but at times both sides looked rusty and disjointed. The game may not have been the most enthralling but big hits and some good drives. However our halves seem to work to the system and never appear to "read" what is on.
We have been spoilt for many seasons with some very special 9s so lets give the incumbents a chance to bed in.
KH loves his dependable wingers and with this type of player out wide you wont gift many tries. But rugby league sells itself as the exciting running code with wingers that can finish and get chances to show they can. How many passes do our wingers get in space?
When Karl came i hoped that he could meld the team spirit of his time at Batley with our flair and turn us into the top team in the competition. However he soon showed his ideas as Callands team dismantled to be replaced by a team of props and should be props. Heaton on the wing! ok he is not a creative centre but never a solution as a winger. Didnt we sign him as a FB and how many games has he played there?
I will support as i have for 50 years , will cheer groan and moan but i do despair of our lack of creative moves. We play like Bamfords team of yore when every one in the crowd knew what was coming next the difference being we only pass to the first receiver or turn it back inside . I could defend that! To be beaten by a break from an ex player completing one of our old FB down the middle plays made me pull out my hair and dream of some of the plays , planned and off the cuff, we have had the pleasure of seeing.
So come on, i guess i am saying keep faith, hope for better days but if we continue in this mould for rest of season a change of direction will be required next year.
PS I thought Batley , though limited, played pretty well and just about desrved the win. They played a winger who can run 90 yards.

| Our completion rate on the attacking sets was poor, especially first half.
We put the ball down far too easily early in the tackle count and never build any pressure as a result.
Same thing for their first score one minute 5 meters out from their line looking to score, ball goes to ground and a few seconds later were stood under our posts wondering how that happened.
As regards the style of play both teams were the same and on a glue pot pitch with a both sides offside and laying on for most of the game no wonder it was boring, the man in the middle has a part to play in the tempo of the game.
Tonka had some good spells, Manning did another tackling marathon and the rest looked out on their feet at the end of the game and as they left the field they looked devastated.
I cannot understand why we would play Callum Casey at centre it hasn't worked before on the odd occasion he played their and it didn't work today.
The most irony must go to for all the one up rugby when we need to do it to close the game down we knock on more then than any other part of the game.
Miles played well, with a bit of X factor which won the game in the end and Ben Blackmore I think it was on the right wing ran the ball back well for them.
Apart from the loss today it ramps up the pressure for next week and it won't get any easier.

| Like others I've refrained from posting until I've had a couple of hours too think about today. I just cannot understand the team selection. The only thing I can think of is that Rettie , Cowling and Fieldhouse are injured. It just doesn't make sense to keep playing players out of position , there's no continuity of selection , combinations are just not getting time to play together etc . I mentioned last week about our propensity to give away late scores - three times in three games teams are scoring in the last 10 mins against us - I think fitness is a major problem at the minute : conceding late scores , dropping passes it's a worry .. Murrell look shattered when he came off , Tonks only played the first fifteen minutes and then a similar spell in the second half . Bartley just looked keener as if they really wanted it more. I could go on but I'll be only repeating what others have said . On a positive note I thought Saxton went well and Divorty ran hard but apart from that it was woefully poor

| A bit more reflection, yes it has been a tough start.
We ground out the win against Swinton.
We could have got the result at Fev and failed to close the game down. Were Fev better than us, if they were not by much.
We could have come away with the win against Batley and failed to close the game down. Were Batley better than us, not at all but they won it in stoppage time.
Only a few games in and Fev, Eagles, Fax have all lost.

| In fairness, the man in the middle didn’t help yesterday, he allowed a lot of lying on, wrestling and third man coming in after the tackle was complete. But he was as bad for both teams.
But if you are going to play a basic forward game, hoping to batter the other team and get on the front foot, then you need to have prop forwards who can bust a hole, dominate the ruck and get a quick play the ball. And hookers who can capitalise on it. Other than Tonks, we have neither.

| Think Karl is missing the point.
rlhttps://www.halifaxcourier.co.uk/sport/halifax-rlfc/halifax-rlfc-news/harrison-fax-guilty-of-stupidity-1-6473260rl
There seems to be fundamental problems with selection inconsistencies rather than any single "stupidity" event on the pitch. Can he get this group of players to play like a top two side? I'm not so sure. I doubt whether Sheffield will be in a generous mood next week either after their calamitous loss yesterday.

| “I thought Saxton went okay. He came in Thursday night and he found it hard because we play a totally different style to Featherstone, but what he did was good and there’s more to come from him.”
Well K H at least sees we play a style so different from the top sides ,I feel for our wingers just there to tackle and defuse kicks. I doubt any change is imminent.

| Been trying to find a positive out of yesterdays shamble. Hey presto, the crowd appears to have been up on the corresponding fixture last year (by about a dozen). Other than that - zilch.

| It was a poor, slow game, but the conditions aren’t helping teams - it’s a cesspit out there - and it’s also the way the games are being officiated at the moment.”
Comes across again as excuses. As a coach Harrison should be working with his players on expecting Slow play the balls and playing on a heavy pitch. He as coach should be working with the team on howhow to make the best of it. Its clear the refs dont allow to much fast play the balls and as for the pitch well its to be expected. Harrison wants things all his own way. Again he has failed to address why he is playing players not in their normal position. For me with somebody like Simon Brown why are we not using the 40/20 option more? Has our gameplan changed at all during Harrisons reign? Why are our players not expecting offloads? Why do we not use our speedsters out wide more? Sorry Karl you are not the right coach for Fax and would be good if you actually admitted it was your fault, not just the players when we lose

| We paid for not having a natural winger on the right hand side yesterday with Heatons bombed try. Worrincy or Potts would have gone for the corner and scored where as Heatons natural instinct seems to be to try and trample players.
God knows where Harrison thinks the trys are coming from when 3 of the top scorers from last season are either sat in the stands or no longer at the club and ripping it up else where.
Its time to bring in coaches who can get the best out of players rather than ones who knock players confidence at any given opportunity.
