Good grab if can get him, did Branighan & Woods work together at Gateshead? Thought McCormack was their but may be wrong and this would make a lot of sense.

I for one can't wait to our away game at your gaffe
Absolutely correct, they did work together at Gateshead,
Mr Woods has a lot of contacts who want to play for him
and if we can find the money, might suprise a few next year.

Dave Woods brought together the 2009 Gateshead Thunder squad bar the signings of Younquest,Franze,Kahler and Aitken who were signed from French clubs during the season and after he lost his job in December 2008.
Dave also signed Dylan Nash and worked with him during the 2007 season,a season which was not successful.
Criminal to think that since coming to England in 2005 to guide Castleford to promotion he has been out of the game for as long as has and when he has been in the sport he has won so much for the clubs who employed him.

May I convey my very best wishes for a full recovery to the injured supporter,Dave Singer, and his loved ones at this traumatic time.

Congratulations to your club on your success and your wonderful supporters.(except Nat, icon_lol.gif )

Luke is a good 'un, aint he ?

Luke is a good en, and i wish him luck where ever he may end up. As for Dylan Nash, he's also a decent player, sadly lacking in pace for me mind.

I'm with urbancarrot on this one. I would like to see us perhaps take a step back to middle league and develop some of the immense local talent there is in Halifax. Perhaps with a lower wage bill we could even run a reserve team.

There are so many local lads wasting away in SL reserve teams.

I take it rebuilding and playing to a budget using local talent, ala Batley, is not to your liking?

Thats all well and good using local talent and having a reserve team but at the expense of challenging for cups, leagues, playing in semi finals etc, no thanks.

If your happy to be a mid-table team then good luck but I suspect your in the minority. Can't believe you actually said you'd like us to go back to being a mid-table team, the last 2 seasons have been great. Just seen your location too, hmmm.

To be honest i pay and turn up to support HRLFC, of co i would like local talent to be in the team, BUT, only if they are good enough, I want to support a winning team who competes at the highest level, if that means spending all the salary cap and keeping the fans entertained then so be it. I am sure if the last 3 years performaces had been the same as widnes then you would not be saying this.

As for Batley, yes they won a NRC but where were they in anything else, not in the top 6, they only got where they did in challenge cup because we cocked up in it

I like the fact we had, Shad, Nash, Branno, Black, Frank, Said, Aizue ( not gene ) they are what made Halifax this year. Bowman is a local lad and gets game time, as and when Calland see's fit. that's enough for me. If you want a local team as oppossed to a competitive one i am sure siddal could accomadate your need.

If we don't start now to build local talent and have a reserve we will never fill the criteria introduced in 2008.

CLUB TRAINED PLAYER RULE

engage Super League XIII is likely to have the most club trained players taking part in the competition for nearly five years thanks to a new rule introduced for 2008.

The new ‘club trained player’ rule stipulates that each club must have at least five players who are aged under 21 years or are graduates from their own academy system in their 25 man first team squad during 2008.

The table below shows how these figures will increase between now and 2011.

Year 2008 2009 2010 2011
Home-Grown Players 5 6 7 8
UK-trained players 10 11 12 12
Overseas trained players 10 8 6 5

If we ever want to get into and survive in Super League, we need a firm foundation and long term planning, not just a spend to win attitude.
