I agree completely - Widnes are doing it as they think it will swing favours with the RFL - fair play to them - but if they didnt need to have it - they wouldnt and they would save the money. If the RFL want a team in SL they will be - regardless of the junior players they have - look at Celtic before - if they dont want you - you wont be in. |

Keighley are in administration. Oldham are close to it if not in Administration and had to get rid of a load of players last year to survive. Hunslet also are struggling to survive most of the time. York also have had money worries in the past couple of years. So I doubt they have much quality in the Academy or that they can properly afford to run an academy to produce players good enough for the Championship let alone SL and why they are in Championship 1 except Keighley who will be next year!

My point. Halifax does not neccesarily have to worry about under 21 or Academy to keep RFL (Moving goal posts) or Widnes (Super League because we say so) posters happy at the moment.
End of the day, Halifax & Calderdale area has a rich history of producing talent at all levels.
If reqd Halifax can set up a system again that can & will compete at any level
