I don't think. We have been told that silverware will count in the final analysis for SL status so to suddenly say following this defeat it doesn't matter is stupid. It could not be more important for everybody associated with the club that we win something to really kickstart our SL challenge. But most worrying is that when the really important matches come along we seem to go AWOL big time. For such an important game we needed to start well and we didn't. Widnes they were much more professional and fully deserved to win. Anybody who says otherwise is deluding themselves. But in the final analysis today was another opportunity to show the RL world we are a force to be reckoned with and we blew it (again) This match could be a pivotal moment in a season that promised so much and ultimately fails to deliver. OK the season is a long way from over but I am beginning to feel the early season promise is beginning to falter along with naive comments that we are the best team `by a country mile'

If I've read it right . The RFL said you don't have to have won a "Tin Cup" or a "Grand Final". But you must have contested one. So one box not Ticked yet.

There's a a weird atmosphere at your gaff. having one good season (so far) in the I don't know how many you've been poor/getting your act together, doesn't make put you in a better position than anyone else for SL qualification.

No, you have to have won it really. I can't see a team that hasn't won wanything in the next two seasons being taken seriously.

But that's irrelevant until you get your reserve and youth set-up sorted as I'm convinced that's where a franchise (which I remain implacably opposed to) will be won or lost for Championship clubs.

I think the criteria was "have to have appeared in a final". So Widnes and Barrow have ticked that box.

It was actually "Finished in the top 2, appeared in the GF, or won the NRL cup" So a mixture of both really!

They then said "a top 3 finish may be acceptable in certain cases" or words to that effect - think the certain cases will be if your french....

I think you miss my point. Whatever it says in reality, it is my opinion that if a Championship side hasn't won a trophy this season or next, it will not have a chance, unless there is something ridiculously over-riding and compelling reason otherwise. A point Mama Kangaroo picked up on!
