This is a small Sam Smith's pub with the usual Sams beers on. A nice tidy little pub was this. Our trips use to take in Wakefield where amongst the many watering holes we would call in at Harry's Bar down a ginnel opposite Westgate Station. All of Ossett Brewery beers on and a few others to chose from also. At Wakefield Labour Club (The Red Shed) a warm welcome awaits and 4/5 rarer beers can be had. Out of Wakefield on the way to Fev, and at Heath Common you will find The Kings Arms (NI). This is another Ossett pub but with other ales on as well. This pub is great in the summer as you can sit outside on the common as you drink your ale. A multitude of small rooms inside where good food is also served. A short drive will take you to Fev from here. Enjoy your ale, enjoy the match. ![]()

John, I have met Gingdong a few times,in the Fev Hotel,he is a very nice bloke,a bit outspoken but I like that in people,he always says what he thinks,and will look after you .

Most definatelying Pete, I went in the 3 Pigeons,and then was in your Supporters Bar under the East Stand,were I saw Bentleyman, and later bumped into Halifaxjohn in the car park,as you already know I'm a teetotaller and know nothing about real ale, though we sell it at the Caroli pub in Wigan, Bombardier being our special.Hopefully I may see you at the Blackpool Bash, as I intend being there both days,if I don't I will hopefully see you for the return game at the LSV.
Fax had a very good result on Monday against the Bulls and did Leigh a big favour,we are not playing that we'll at the moment , but you can't get any higher than Top of the League.

If going via Wakefield I would recommend the Fernandes Brewery Tap & Bier Keller, which is now an Ossett brewery owned pub/brewery, but still produces it's own beers. IIRC this pub opens at midday on a Sunday.

| There's an interesting series on BBC 2 at the moment. It's the Hairy Bikers doing a tour of British pubs. Weekdays at1830 called The Pubs that built Britain it's not necessarily about real ale, more historical but interesting none the less. So far they have done Yorkshire, The Lake District and Manchester. Tonight is Cornwall. Magic Rock Tap, Ringmaster 3.9 % Mmm!  |

| Batley:-I'll start this Batley crawl in....Dewsbury! Well it is only a mile or so away and The West Riding Refreshment Rooms (RA) on the westbound platform of Dewsbury railway station is an absolute gem. This multi award winning pub has about eight ales on at any one time and always on top form. On the train and off again in about five minutes and walk out of Batley station and straight into The Cellar Bar where 3/4 beers can be tasted. Down the hill now to Hick Lane and you will find The Union Rooms (W). This is a decent 'spoons where fans from both teams mingle freely and enjoy a very good range of real ales and food if needed. Just around the corner on Commercial Street is a great addition to Batley's ale scene. The Tap Room, ex Wilton Arms, has a great selection of beers on and offers a 20p discount to CAMRA members. Happy days! Enjoy your ale, enjoy the match. |
