| So in effect if you was to run with 7 or 8 u21s home grown players this season that would free up more money to sign up better players and still remain within the SC ?

Firstly, yes you could do that. Secondly they don't have to be home grown. They just have to qualify to play within the academy. So they could be foreign with british or european passports.

How many in times we know the on field effort does not matter (IMHO it should ) but the rules set by the RFL ( the ones that matter ) The onfield criterea has been met
If it did matter then SoC would have made sure Widnes got the SL place that way
Widnes DO NOT set the rules for SL we have just followed them
IE Finance . Gates Acecemy infrastructure
Take a note out of SoC book ( after the last round of licence's _ and plan for the next lot of Licence's and Good Luck
You sound like the kopites with the " we've won it 5 times e " but at least they have summat to shout about

Our strategy had to be different. We had to put our efforts on the pitch in order to get bums on seats. Unfortunately that hasn't worked yet. We need another 1,000 on the gate if we are to be taken seriously for SL.

| Has the criteria been published? Because it is wrong to assume it is the same as last time around. Dont forget that the RFL committed to promoting the best club in the Championship but never clarified what that meant. I can only assume the three applications are not getting judged against any criteria but instead against each other.

Licensing FAQ's
What period is the next licence for?
The next round of licences will be awarded for the period 2012 to 2014.
Who will decide which clubs obtain a licence for 2012 to 2014?
The independent RFL Board will determine who gains membership to the Super League in 2012.
Will a club from the Championship definitely be awarded a licence?
Yes, at least one Championship club will be awarded a Super League licence, provided it meets the minimum criteria. The minimum criteria for a Championship club to be awarded a Super League licence areWill a Super League club be “displaced”?
At this stage the Super League will remain at 14 clubs in 2012. If a Championship Club meets the minimum criteria and the Super League competition remains at 14 clubs, a Super League club will be displaced.
When are the licence applications due to be submitted to the RFL and when will the successful clubs be announced?
Championship clubs applying for a Super League licence will submit their applications to the RFL in December 2010. Provided one of the applications from the Championship clubs meets the minimum criteria, the successful Championship club receiving a Super League licence will be announced in March 2011.
Super League clubs intending to apply for a licence will submit their applications by April 2011. The remaining clubs joining the initial successful Championship club in the Super League for 2012 will be announced in July 2011.
Why is there a difference between the Championship and Super League clubs?
The RFL believes that a Championship club who is awarded a licence will benefit from having a greater period of preparation before entry to the 2012 Super League. On that basis it has been decided that the successful Championship club will have earned the opportunity to have this greater period of preparation, and announcing their licence in March 2011 allows them this time to prepare for the 2012 Super League season.
What happens if a Championship club meets the minimum criteria, but is not the successful club announced in March 2011?
Those Championship clubs that meet the minimum criteria but do not obtain a Super League licence in March 2011 still have a chance of obtaining a Super League licence. These clubs will have their suitability for a licence assessed with the Super League clubs who submit applications in April 2011.
Has the assessment process changed from the last round of Super League licensing?
In the last round of licensing, clubs were initially assessed and awarded points on reaching minimum standards. In this round of licensing, clubs will be assessed against A Grade criteria. These criteria are designed to reflect the advancing standards within Super League, and take account of the feedback received from clubs following the last round of licensing.
How are the applications assessed?
Clubs are assessed on criteria in 5 key areasHow are clubs planning new or redeveloped stadia going to be assessed?
New stadiums or redevelopments of existing stadiums will only be taken into account if the RFL is satisfied that the stadium will be open or the redevelopment finished by the start of the 2012 season.
Timeline
December 2010 – Championship club applications due to be submitted
March 2011 – Successful Championship club announced.
April 2011 – Super League club applications due to be submitted
July 2011 – Successful licensed clubs announced.

| So, if the RFL adheres rigidly to it's own rules (stop laughing over there!) Fax need not have wasted it's time applying as it did not have a turnover of £1,000,000 in 2009 or 2010 (though I still believe that Widnes's figures were due to creative accounting) and Barrow need not have applied due to stadium, turnover and average attendance.
Also Cas, Wakey, Saints and Salford are out as there isn't a chance in Hell of their new stadiums being finished by the start of the 2012 season.

Yes..it makes sense to me.
The WCs averaged about 4600 last season, what happens if that was novelty value and the gates are half that this season ?.
What happens if hughes at quins says..unless someone comes in and helps with the costs i'm out of here at the end of this season ?.
Then theres the court case about image right which could cost SL clubs millions.
ALthough i think some of you are being a bit daft with building your hopes up so much..it'll be so painful if you dont get the nod.

I dont think its daft building up our hopes.
I think most people on this board, and most fans that I know, realise the chances of a superleague licence for 2012 is pretty slim.
The March announcement will most definately go to Widnes.
What we have to do, as a club, is make it as difficult as possible for the July decisions, ie with the exception of location, what has Crusaders, Quins or Catalan got that Halifax hasnt? You could say fan base, but when we were in the top flight we showed that our average gates could be as good, if not considerably better than Quins and the potential ones at Crusaders, and as for Catalan, how many will they take to Leeds, Bradford, Wigan, St Helens etc? I am damn sure that Halifax will take more than they do.
The main concern that I have, as a Halifax fan, is for the 2015 onwards, because the RFL have a history of changing the goalposts and they could make it even more difficult for Championship clubs to make the step up.

The reason we put a bid in was partly because the Rugby League asked us to.

I guess you need to put a bid in to apply for a licence ?
If you dont have a bid in this season, and something goes wrong in SL at the end of this season, then perhaps you cant be considered to replace any club that falls from grace.
