You are right the problem is now between the Council and Fax and we should just allow them to sort it out but I do admit I have some sympathy for both the council and Fax over this debacle.Unfortunatly the damage was done some time back by the SST who even though they could barely afford to run the stadium how it should have been by eg keeping up to the repairs etc they still negotiated a lower rent for the Town. As Town play more than twice the number of games at home that collects income than do Fax and as Fax did not request cheaper rent when they dropped out of Super League I hardly think it`s fair.
When the SST first came into being they must have set a parity of rent which was the optimum amount to run the stadium and when Town went "belly up" I do believe they owed the SST thousands in unpaid rent as they were on the list of unpaid creditor. Yet they still were allowed a lower rent just prior to handing over to the coucil even though the SST were winding up themselves hardly fair on the council either.At the end of the day the council have put a great deal of money into the facility and deserve for it at least to pay for itself.Until they can get the money back from other related income streams on the place the optimum level of rent and parity for both parties should have been adhered to.
The SST I believe let everyone down not least the organisations who helped to set them up with loans of thousands of pounds (still not repaid) because we believed we were buying into a fair and just organisation that would treat all tenants fairly .Since Bubba brought this business of the rent to our attention some weeks back it has stirred up some very heated comments on both sides but it hopefully may end up amicably settled by those who are best to deal with it and I would not think even the board of Town will be happy about attention being drawn to their affairs.
