The great thing about RL is that the benefit of doubt goes to the attacking team. The TV angle from behind the line was 50/50 IMO and you couldn't really see anything from the TV angle in front of the line. I think I would have been pretty miffed had it been awarded against my team, but as a neutral I can see how Hicks came to his decision (even though he is usually a numpty).

At the ground I couldnt obviously see if it was a try or not, but Harris and the rest of the team seemed pretty clear that it wasnt, by the way they lined up to play the ball.

I have just watched it again on Sky and I am 100% clear that it wasnt a try, even ALL the commentators were sure it wasnt a try.

Hicks is just a complete and utter joke.

I really do believe certain refs walk into a bookmakers, place a bet on the team they think are going to win, and then officiate accordingly.

It was def short, but your last try was forward (in which the ref wasn't going to give) until he looked his gormless touch judges.

The last try wasn't forward watch a replay! But your lad should've walked for swearing at the ref after he'd given it.

If Hicks was on the pitch as the ref he'd have gone

I was bang in line with it, but I was just frustrated at the time.

I hate Penkywicz he's too good!

It was a joke but childs had to even it up, we looked like scoring every time we got the ball in the first ten or so minutes

I saw pass after pass, for both teams which could have been called as forward.

I havent watched the game fully through yet, so I cant really comment on that, only looked at the Harris try so far.

My initial reaction was that it was a try, but after several replays I wasn't sure.

I'd do away with the video ref anyway - more often than not, the camera angles just confuse everyone.

I don't think he got it down over the line and obvioulsy Harris didn't either. However looking at the rule book this morning it says:

[iReferee unsighted
The Referee should not disallow a try because he was not in a position to see the grounding of the ball.[/i

Video refs are classed as the referree for their decisions so i can only think he gave benefit of the doubt for it. I found it strange that all the fev players lined up for the play the ball and only Hicks thought it was a try.

Still thankfully we won and it's in the record books now, so i won't be dwelling on it.
