| If the sign is on Council/Stadium land, then they'll just have a say in the size of the sign, not what is on it.

That is what the first poster is saying the boards too small .It certainly can`t be seen I know the previous one dropped to bits I think but surely it was bigger wasn`t it?Maybe we should contact the advertising agencys to see how much the ones on Huddersfield rd are or the Road ones advertising Halifax then underneath we could have underneath "Home of Halifax Rugby League. We had one like that at the entrance to the village for our pub, we should start looking out of the box a little and if what`s on offer at our ground isn`t what our club needs then we should look elsewhere. You could not move in Bradford or drive through it without the Bulls plastered all over the sides of the road even though at their own ground advertising oportunity was there. It seems a bit daft to me there is all that very poor looking frontage in some parts that could be enhanced by maybe geting someone from the art college to do something on it.

| surely the Stadium Managment (whoever they are) are missing a trick here.
Why dont they try to get a local company to sponsor a large sign at the 4 corners of the stadium which can be updated for Town/Fax games easily.

especially as the roads at the top & bottom of the Shay are the main ways in & out of town on that side.

Get together with Keighley,Hunslet,Dewsbury and Batley , all chuck a couple of grand in and buy an advertising van or van and trailer between you
Then each club gets to use it for a couple of days in the lead up to their home games
It could be driven round the locality and parked up at markets/supermarkets , even used to give out ' promo ' deals on tickets and the like
If you havent got the staff each to do it all chuck in to pay somebody to drive the thing around

| The way the Bulls did their marketing was not just for advertising the next game it was at every entrance to the City they were more or less saying "this is our patch". I don`t go anywhere near Bradford much these days so I don`t know wether they are still there or not, might be interesting to see how much the advertising boards are though couldn`t hurt to ask.I also notice the one at the rear side of the nightclub across from the civic,it looks electronic and advertises several products wonder how much that is anyone know?

We did used to do that as we had a fan/sponsor who used to do it for us and it was very effective don`t quite know what hapened there but it was moved about quite a bit and it would be good to see it again.

havent seen one around Bradford for a few years, other than whats there at Odsal.
I liked it when we used to have the big electronic advertising "thingy" in our SL years in the late 90s, but im sure people on here have said before that it was a really expensive to hire.

As I said , get together with other Championship clubs and buy one
Time for us all to start to work together
5 clubs all contributing one wage each means a 'team ' of five marketing people working for a different club every day , then give them a budget and some visual support and you will start to get somewhere
We as p/t clubs cannot afford to do the job properly , so instead work together and do the job properly but just not as often , better to have a team of workers doing one day a week or one week a month for your club than one person struggling on their own F/T

They are really expensive, I think around £2500 per year normally, but in the crrent climate they might be willing to negotiate.
A better option would be to contact land owners on the borders and see if we can erect a permenant sign that is bigger and cheaper.
I'm sure farmers would be happy to let the signs be put up in their fields for £500 or less.
One of the problems with the mobile A board was that if it was left parked up, the lights would be smashed and the tyres slashed, but we did then find a permanent spot for it up at the Moorlands pub at Ogden, but I don't know if it's still there.

| Might sound daft but simple, why not Try and incorporate a poster advertising the next home game in the window display at Harveys? I'm sure plenty of people look in the windows as they pass.
Are the fixture posters still done? (seem to remember comments about them at the start of the year) they were usually displayed in a lot of takeaways and the like.
I know when a Circus or similar is in town, they get local shops to display their posters by Giving a ticket or two the the shopkeeper, which they can use them self or pass onto a staff member. A Circus style poster with a white box where the next fixture can be easly printed into could be a quite cheap option, just need a way to distribute them about.

Was actually thinking something similar myself as I think the advertising boards as Yob says would be too expensive.Does anyone know the people who are taking the old Clare Hall school down across the road from the Shay .They might be willing to let a big banner go up for now, obviously they will not want it there when it`s finished.Another spot is the pointed window that sticks out at the Electric bowl ,what about taking one of the advertising things they use in hospitality that pulls up out of a cigar shaped thing. We could maybe come to some arrangment with them to advertise the Electric Bowl at our matches in return.

| Would be good to have a big new sign for The Shay saying 'Welcome to the Shay - Home of Halifax RLFC and AFC Halifax Town' when the East Stand is finished plus separate new boards to advertise 'whats on'.
Maybe one for the fans if CMBC won't pay for it but will allow them to be put up, one on Skircoat Road and one at Shay Syke???

Went by there the other day and don't recall seeing it, I always chuckled as I drove by it in the past as both players which were pictured on the board were no longer playing for us. (Joel Penney and Gibbo I think).

You see it at other grounds, a pretty standard board and then you slide in characters to spell out the opponents and date for the next match. Very simple but effective.
Possibly something the two trusts could look at sorting.

| why not approach Complete Building Materials to see if they would sponsor the timber etc required to build such a sign. Im sure we have fans who are chippies who could build us one. Its an investment towards future fans.

| Yes that`s a good idea but I still think we should be spreading the word farther afield through the rest of the town.I think the poster in shops with a couple of free tickets is an excelent idea I was in a shop in town the other day who had just had a visit from the circus folk.I am sure some people would volunteer to take them around the town if we had some tickets to hand out.It would cost very little really.

Well if we are teaming up it will have to be partisan something like Home in Sport For Calderdale as we could end up debating for months as to whose name should come first .

Spot on.
Home of Balls of Odd Shapes would be a good one if somebody hadn't already knicked the acronym
Or how about Home of the Football And Rugby Teams?
