Late hit on Jacks during the build up to Hall's first try.

| Barber's sin binning was surely for repeat offenses. It was the fourth penalty Fax had conceded in the space of three minutes, the only thing I would say is the ref didn't noticeably signal the warning sign that the next offense would be a sin binning (do they still do that?).
There were a few strange decisions and certainly not all against Fax - for instance on the set after Barber had been sin binned, Saltonstall reefed the ball from Hall a yard out, it might just about have been one-on-one but the ball clearly went three or four yards forward yet Saltonstall fell on the ball and was allowed to play on.

| From watching the replay of the Barber sin binning I'd say its for back chat just from the ref's and Barber actions after the whistle goes. As far as I know the warning signal is still a thing so Im not sure it were for repeatable offences. Im not sure the ref's decisions had too much bearing on the result and Im sure theres multiple things evening it up, like the forward pass in the tackle before Fev's first try, its a good couple of yards forwards but on the flip side how many penalties did we get near our own line in the first half that let us off the hook?
With just a little bit of the rub of the green in other areas and we probably win the game it were that close. Jouffrett does not pull up and we probably win the game, Murray gets another yard we win the game, the Fev try off that kick where the bounce was horendous for Jouffret, that does not happen we probably win the game. Its really fine margins and exactly what we want to be seeing away from home against the best team in the division. Not a lot of room for error from now on but if we can take the two points from the Leigh game we will still be in a pretty decent position already playing those two teams once.

But what was the last penalty given for prior to Barber getting binned? I didn't see any signal from the ref? Fev drop the ball, Fax have a player sin binned and Fev get a penalty. Offside maybe?

Yeah the penalty is offside but its about a yard or so, something that happens repeatedly through the game and goes unpunished. What hurt the most with this one was the Fev player dropping the ball under no pressure ends with a penalty and sinbinning. If he caught the ball then there would have been no penalty but again maybe Fev score so who knows.

Typical. I bet it was the same ref that did for Colin Whitefield and Brendan Hill!

| With woodburn-hall close to fitness does anybody think we should put him straight back in at fullback or put him on the bench at the expense of a forward. We could also let him play for huddersfields reserves first to get some match fitness. And who would you leave out to play him.

Shades of Chris Kendall (or to be more accurate his touch judge) a few years ago in the last minute at Post Office Road when John Davies shot out on the last tackle and Tyrer was given a penalty in front of the posts...yep a lot of randomness to those decisions though, I'd agree.
Game could have gone either way, Fev were really lacklustre for much of it, Fax played very well, hope you give Leigh plenty to think about next week.

| After watching the game back you could see how good a job mcomb did in defence against hall. I was a bit worried when i heard he would be playing but i thought he did a very good job. And if we could of got him some more quick ball he could of done some damage with is carries. It was noticeable when louis went off and barber moved to halls speed caused him problems and the 2 scores followed.

I was thinking the same thing about woodburn hall ,I noticed him catching and passing before the fev cup game and Grix said a couple of weeks in the after match interview after Sunday’s game so it will be very close . I would imagine is fitness level will be close he’s had a full pre season and will have been able to do cardio etc and probs 3 weeks weights up to the Leigh game . Ultimately only he knows how the thumb is , the reserve game is 50/50 on one hand it’d be good for match fitness but imagine the uproar if he gets injured. Let’s hope jouffret is only a tweak as he looked good on Sunday and we’ve missed that attacking threat from fb . I would leave Martin out , tbh I’d leave Martin out anyway and play salty or walmsey at fb and bring tibbs in or play barber arundal in the centre and move McComb to the wing .

Was that the one where Jordan Lilly put a drop goal over for Fev to go into lead with time almost gone then with a minute to go Fax got the penalty.
The most controversial part of it was Kendal played an advantage for what seemed to go on for ages and when nothing came from it he went back to the penalty

| Yep, I think that didn't help though I guess you have to play advantage to see if Halifax can get the try in that situation...trouble is, Misi did a one-on-one ball steal on richard Moore and was haring upfield for a likely try when Kendall blew the whistle, it wasn't even Kendall's call (it was the touch judge) but there are some Fev fans who still haven't forgiven Kendall for it!
The Tangata/Wildie discplinary cases are certainly interesting...Tangata Grade A and 0 games ban, Wildie Grade B and 1 game ban.Not really a fan of comparing different incidents as no two incidents are exactly the same but I thought although Wildie's hit was maybe slightly later than Tangata's, Tangata's was much more vigorous. Anyway it means Tangata can play against Leigh so can't grumble!
Confirmed that Barber's sin binning was for repeated offences so the only puzzle is why the ref didn't appear to signal the warning to the crowd.

Forgot about the Misi ball steal, probably because I was sneaking out after the drop goal and thinking the game was lost only to rush’s back in when we got the penalty

Hand wise pretty sure he will only play when fully fit.
Match fitness, interesting question on him having a run out for the reserves, it would start to tick that box and if he broke down then it wouldn’t be in a full league game.
On other recent related news I see Alex Walker has gone back to London.
