| Quote faxcar="faxcar"I am fully aware of how the funds were raised and who did it and as many, if not all on here personally contributed but there will be many who are struggling financially owing to the impact of covid.
Clearly the period running up to 2 years ago things were vastly different.
The reality of now is Fax, acting responsibly have had to readjust to the current situation just like we all have and simply can not afford to run a reserve team that you did propose and in effect ask for.
At every level Fax are a fully independent club and as such the BoD have the right to choose what arrangements they enter into regarding the running and management of the club.
To have a mutually beneficial reserves arrangement does not change their independence rather because it’s their decision actually confirms it.
Likewise any personal objections or opinions we may have on DR or loans has no relevance whatsoever to any clubs independence.'"
Wouldn't waste your time mate. He'll never grasp it.

| Any road, game day is here and at last a bit of sunshine. The pitch will be heavy but I'd have both Walmsley and Jouffret in the side. If we try to just stifle Fev we will get the same result as we did against Widnes, we've got to go for it and if we can rid ourselves of the daft mistakes and poor discipline we are more than capable of reaching the next round. Let's just hope though that the officials are better than those from last night's boxing match. Up The Fax❗

| Quote Hudd-Shay="Hudd-Shay"To use Dual Registration and have an 'arrangement' regarding players is hardly being independent in my book.

Well you need a new book and one with more than the same old one line in it that never fits the the thread or current subject matter.
The first post about Roberts not being in the squad said this.
Quote"Ah, no Roberts, surprise, surprise. It just goes to show the idiocy of DR. He was in last weeks squad and therefore presumably trained with us. Giants don't allow him to be in this weeks squad so training without him. What a waste of time."
When the simple answer has nothing to do with DR but not wanting him cup tied, everybody knows it and understood why except you.
Your book, with no DR, Loans and in the current situation would have the likes of Ben Tibbs just sat around stagnating week after week as in this post.
Quote "Merged reserves? Whatever next? Utter madness! "
And this.
Quote"I wonder what our own players think of the situation?"
I wonder how Ben Tibbs or others would feel then when they had a chance for some game time but you would be saying NO.

| While I hope both Walmsley and Jouffret get a run once the pitches dry out, wouldn't play Walmsley today as I think he would struggle with the size of either Briscoe or Gale. May sound a bit negative but having been dropped for perceived defensive frailties against Batley , big risk both to team performance and players confidence to throw him back in against best ream in the league. I'm looking forward to today - just hope the underdogs tag inspires the team to put in a performance.

Yes, plenty of questions on how SG approaches this one.
With Martin being cup tied there has to be a change, so who will go to 1.
The back 3 went well against Widnes so will he want to change that around a bit and have Salty in there?
Will it be Jouffret?
Walmsley will have to play sooner or later, would it be better in a cup tie?
Anyway a cracking day weather wise and after last week the East Standers will need their sunglasses instead of sou'westers!!

| Well that shows what I know - Walmsley excellent today -as was Jouffret at fullback. Thought Grix summed it up well in his aftermatch comments- worked hard in the first half without really having courage to try much in attack - second half they really troubled what must be the strongest team in the division.
Overall although disappointed to lose really enjoyed the game - I'm sure that performance would have been enough to beat most teams in the division. While I would expect us to lose next week - think we now have a decent chance against Leigh - just unfortunate timing to have 3 such tough fixtures in succession.

| A strong response in the second half. We might be quite a good team if we can cut out the brain farts.
Not sure how Joe Martin gets back in the team, Jouffret added a lot in attack and Grix has got a tough call to make with Walmsley. Think Fev were there for the taking in second half but self-sabotage as usual went against us.

| I thought first half we offered very little and Fev didn't really have to get out of 3rd gear to gain the lead they had at half time. Second half I thought were were the better team and with a better first half we would have gave ourselves a great chance of winning the game. In that respect I was really pleased with the performance but I will reserve judgment saying we can really compete with them until after next week.
Yesterday showed how laughable that Jouffret and Walmsley not been selected for previous games was. Its no surprise that both our halfs were outstanding when you add in another pivot to take some pressure off them and with Walmsley you get that extra bit of quality, only inches away from a hat trick which would have been a class finish as he got on top of one of the best wingers at this level. If either of those two lose their spots after that they have every right to be miffed. I think our pack did really well and were not as out muscled as I thought they might be, if anything it were Fev in the second half that looked to be lacking energy wise which was a surprise.

A) Martin doesn't get back into the team unless for injuries.
B) No tough call on Walmsley, he should be certain starter.

Totally agree on all that you say. The performances of Jouffret and Walmsley show just how wrong Simon Grix got it to omit them from previous teams. Those two play against Widnes and we would have won the game.

| Played well enough in certain parts of the game and with ten minutes to go there was just one score in it.
If a couple of passes in the second half had stuck might have even been closer.
Fev were that bit better in both D and attack keeping us out on successive sets and then frequently punishing us when they had the ball in the red zone.
Our slide and edge defense looked vulnerable on more than one occasion, couldn't see who it was with the sun in the eyes but it looked like Pickersgill regularly joining the line to create the numbers and space out wide.
Overall a much better game for players and fans than the mud slog of the previous weeks but there were clear signs that the firmer pitches will help us play a bit and see some entertaining good quality rugby.
Apart from the actual weather, how far we will be down the table by then is the biggest cloud after the poor start but there's always hope.
