Well done Chris & Linda, lets hope we can get other clubs behind us.

Just another thought on a title which jumped out when I read your initial post, what about a
'Spirit of 1895'

campaign. After all the reason RL came into existance was to promote fairness for all, something currently lost to the sport. Its also something fans at other clubs might be happy to buy into.

Changed the title, sounds better

Whilst I support the thinking behind the protest, I cannot support any form of protest using the word 'Hate'. It is undiplomatic, somewhat immature and could cause people not to take the protest seriously. So I won't be there as I won't associate myself or my family with any protest employing such ill-judged and ill-advised wording.

Nothing stronger than, say, "Loath the RFL, Love P & R" should be the strap line. It also has a better ring to it.

Something has to be said. Well done Chris and Linda and others great work. Sadly I cant really be of much help as I dont live in the area and I have a few other things that need sorting first. This is from us the Fans not the Club or the Board and we have nothing to lose. I do feel this goes beyond Halifax and effects everybody. The RFL have been hell bent on expanding the game but have failed and repeatedly using the same mistakes but using different events to get there way. We all know the game needs to expand but doing it by throwing money away when there is no proper Business and Management Structure is wrong. I think we the fans need to ask for a review of how the RFL have done things and what we would like to see

Maybe instead of using "Hate" and I do hate the RFL for what they have done and are doing to the game maybe we need to maybe focus more on what we want to happen, how we feel. Maybe something like

R eview F uture L eadership = We feel we need a new Leadership in the RFL and change the way things are done so secretively

Review Future Leadership of RFL as they are going to kill the game the way things are not just with licences but in other areas. Maybe its better than using the word Hate which could easily be misunderstood. My English is not the best and so maybe there are other wors that could be better than the ones I have suggested

I was thinking something similar earlier as I ' mulled ' over this post

Even perhaps just something simpler like just the year

Everybody will be aware of my opinions of both the RFL and collaboration between clubs , as the RFL do as we know operate a ' divide and conquer ' policy when it come to the clubs at our level , promising everybody , delivering nothing

However it really is at boardroom level where this standing together needs to happen , to create money , as all the displays of anger will not make any great difference IMO

I really don't know what the answer is , it is very frustrating , not attending any games outside the Championships is one way of showing your displeasure , something I and others have been doing for a couple of years , we have a divivded sport , the only way out of that is money simple as

I'll try to attend next week if I can

The 'principles' thing was to re-educate the public about why the game had to break away in 1895 (beyond just broken time payments) and how it thrived on firm foundations. Fairness, openness, community spirit, collaboration, all underlying themes to the overall title. Maybe the supporters trust could trademark it icon_smile.gif

I think this would be a great title for the campaign. It covers the game as a whole, not just Halifax's issues, and is a direct attack on those running the game - which is the fundamental problem. It would also carry with it the thousands of other non Halifax fans who share our deep concerns with the game. It also gets those not in the know asking what the problem is, and therefore gets people interested. Also, I dare say the Union favouring national press would jump on it, which would cause huge embarassment for the poodles of Red Hall.

Looks like its a tough one. Its obviously a great idea in principle but with some people already saying they dont like this or that then maybe some things need tweaking. It needs to be something that everyone can get behind to build momentum. Its going to be hard for people to get behind something they dont all believe in, i mean for me the P&R thing, yes i used to like it back in the day and im not the biggest fan of some of the parts of franchising but im clever enough to realise that at the moment there is no way the game can support simple P&R, to send a Champioship team in to SL for just one season would be suicide. Also as someone has mentiond Hate RFL means i hate Rugby League basically and i dont, i dislike some of the decisions the sports ruling body makes and question the legitimacy of what they have done but i dont hate RFL.

I think this can be a great campaign if done correctly, but it needs everyone behind it.

Hit them where it hurts for maximum publicity. Picture the scene, Old Trafford and it’s Super League Grand Final night. Fifteen minutes to go and Warrington are two points in front of Wigan. Suddenly a disturbance starts in one of the stands and all the stewards and security cameras are diverted to the area of the ground in question. At a given signal from the three other stands small groups of Championship fans storm the pitch dressed in shirts of all the Championship/Championship 1 clubs with a huge banner for their cause and the game has to be stopped!
Eddie says ‘Who are this lot?’
Stevo replies ‘No idea, I don’t recognise the shirts. They’re obviously nothing to do with Rugby League.’

This could be done.

Nowt cos they are a team full of non Frenchmen.
What do they do for the ENGLISH game?
Nowt as they are taking up a place in OUR league.
In a way they are probably hurting the game in France as what if you took say Man U or Arsenal out of the Premier League? It would lose some appeal as they are two of the major draws and have huge support.

I have nothing against them but stick to the facts please.'"

A few Questions I have-

- What is the aim of the trust these days? Its certainly shifted from the original plans when it was set up.

- How independent is the trust? No website anymore, a google search for "Halifax RLFC Supporters Trust" brings up a page on the official website

- Reading the "Supporters Direct Membership Policy" parts a) and b)

Quote: Halifax RLFC Supporters Trust "

a) The group must aspire to play a responsible part in the life of the Club its members support
b) It must aim to exercise influence in the life of the Club through share ownership and / or Board
representation where possible'"

This protest/campaign does neither IMO

- I understand no one from the Fax Trust has been to the Quarterly Meetings held by Supporters Direct for RL Trusts for a while.

I feel that the interests of the Trust should stop with the club, a wider campaign such as this is not an activity the trust should be used as a vehicle to support, and is perhaps something that the supporters club should be running, if they did choose to involve themselves.

The Trust has done great work over the years, and this past year along has been very good by been able to fund the u23s, but Supporters Trust's are not fundraising vehicles, thats the job of a Supporters Club or Association.

they take as many fans away as many champ clubs take away. And whilst at home they get more than most super league clubs. Head into perpignan on a game day...the whole town shuts down whilst the game is on. But I suppose they are French.

As an original founder of The Trust I have to say Brew that you are very wrong on a number of fronts.

Also we are totally independent and are not just looking to represent fans of Halifax but all RL fans.

Let me ask another question...... How many on here who have voiced an opinion are members of the trust? We have about 120 members of which about 6 turn up regularly to our meetings. Ideally we need 500 fans and we will have a much stronger voice but this will take time
