Bang on the money faxcar, it's a just bit of an understatement to say he hasn't set the world on fire for us.
We have been trying to turn him in to a hooker and TBH it hasn't really worked. His passing from dummy half is far too slow and nothing like accurate enough, we could have had Cooper Cronk at HB this season and even he'd have looked poor. Simply because the ball would have taken so long to get to him that he'd be surrounded by 3 defenders as soon as he caught it, that is what has happened to Blacky this season and TBF Moore too.
I can only think that KH is looking to play him and Finn as a HB pairing, the only trouble with that is, he seems to have lost that yard of pace he had 2 season ago, but maybe that's down to fact he's doing lots of defensive work playing at hooker?
Some of the Fev lot are laughing, but if the rumours are true, they have signed Keegan Hirst, George Flanagan, Gareth Moore and Liam Walmsley from us, why on earth you'd swap Moore for Finn seems just plain crazy? Keegan Hirst needs velcro gloves, he can't hold the ball in any sort of impact and probably the worst prop in the division, George Flanagan great darting from dummy half but can't pass to save his life, his distribution is even worse than Mennel's, Walmsley had 3 really good games but isn't good enough or big enough to be a top player in the division. SO what is going on there looks like suicide to us.
As much as I love the 'dogs, I can't for the life of me understand why the likes of Fev and Fax are buying these lads? As much as I hate to say it, you have far more cash to throw about, and have better individually talented las than these already, surely if you are going to progress you need to sign better players than the ones you already have. I still reckon Beswick and Penky are the best 2 hookers in the division, why on earth did you got rid of them???
Having said that, Walton has signed for Salford and I don't get that either, his decision making is poor, he's no pace and has a tendency to fly out of the line and miss his man leaving his winger exposed. Remember Handforth's try earlier in the season where he made us look absolutely stupid in defence, well the guy that was made to look like an under 9 was Walton, he also has no idea how to pass. Our best players this season are the 3 wingers, Potts, Campbell and Johnson any of these are capable of 20 tries a season giving even average service, but none of them have seen above 2 passes from Wally this season.
If the rumours at the mount are true, you have also signed Gareth Potts as well as Mennel from us, now he is good un, arguably the best winger in the division IMO. He has pace to burn, good defensively, a natural finisher, good under the high ball and he's defo one of the 6 from the current squad I'd have liked to have kept for next season. I just don't know how a SL club haven't come in for him, we were all perplexed that HKR signed Brown last season instead of him, ask any Batley fan and they all thought he was the better of the 2 wingers last year.
