| The original idea of it being Derbies etc was a good idea.
The fixtures now are a joke and are hardly appealing for fans to spend in the region of £500-600 over the weekend.
Get it back to Derbies and get it back to the Millenium Stadium, and listen to the fans, because the feedback from last years questionaire certainly suggests you didnt.

| Must be the death of this now surely?
I was in several pubs on a Stag do yesterday and it was embarrasing seeing the RL games on the TV with hardly anybody there yet on another screen there were full houses at the Rugby Union games and there were more at Hillsborough today for a Championship match (who said relegation promotion is not good for our game???)
Dimwits at the top of RFL. What makes me angry is that they NEVER admit they get it wrong, you can bet your money on the blame for the poor attendance it will be the recession not choice of venue or that it no longer works its had its day now.

Hey, don't knock the RL ..... the franchise system is a great idea, if the likes of Salford and Hull KR hadn't been given 3 seasons "grace" to consolidate and not have to fight relegation, then they probably would have lost by 80 points rather than 50/60 points!

And here we go:-
Rugby Football League chief executive Nigel Wood insisted the Engage Super League Magic Weekend was a success, despite drawing the lowest aggregate crowd in its four years.
A combined attendance for the two-day extravaganza of 52,043 at Murrayfield was 7,706 down on 2009 and more than 10,000 down on the crowds in Cardiff in 2008.
"Given the difficult economic climate it's understandable that there was a slight dip in attendance but to attract over 50,000 people to a unique event like this is a credit to everyone involved," said Wood.
"All the feedback we have had points to The Magic Weekend being a huge success with everyone who attended."
After two years at the Millennium Stadium, the event moved to Murrayfield in 2009 and, although no decision has yet been made on 2011, Wood said the future of the event will be decided in the coming weeks.
"The Magic Weekend is four years old now and I think it's got better year on year," he said.
"Although the event has worked well, we will now do what we always do and review everything that happened over the weekend with all the people who were involved.
"There are a lot of factors to consider in deciding what happens next. The RFL will provide all the feedback required for the clubs to make an informed decision on the future of The Magic Weekend."
Funny how the RFL and Sky always say its better year after year, blimey we must be watching a Soooooooooooper Sooooooooooper Dooooooooooooper League by now then Nigel???
No mention of one extra game now either then (used to be 6 now 7 games)?
Bullsh&t full of.

| The idea of using the event to kick off the super league season is the best imo. And have it closer to the heartlands too. I do like the idea of having all the games together in one stadium as a one off but why in scotland I don't know. I can see why he would think it was a success though by attracting fifty odd thousand fans all that way, but if it was closer to the heartlands imagine how many more would've gone.

| Having it earlier in the season and closer to the heartlands so to speak provides logistical complications as the only stadiums that are really equipped to hold a 20-30k crowd that is all seater is a football stadium and am not so sure any football team would be happy having 7 rugby league matches played on it in feb or march. So the only real idea could be to use one of the national stadiums around the UK that is not being used or have it around this time of year when the football season is coming to an end and stadiums begin to be stopped being used.

50K over the two days is not good really, it looked bad on the TV, come on these games would attract the average attendance over the two days at least if not more if played as normal games so yes its a long way to go but the loyal fans will go so as not to miss one of their teams games.

| If you take the average home attendances for the teams taking part in the magic weekend you will see a dramatic drop in figures. So not so much a succesful weekend at all in numbers. Obviously these figures don't reflect the number of non regular watches of rugby league but i can't think it's in the thousands.
Total Magic Weekend Attendance 2010 : 52,043
Home Teams Total of Average Attendance 2010 : 75,861
If you look at just the worst average attendances in Super League (Quins, Salford, Wakefield, Cas, Crusaders, Catalans, Hudds) and add them up it isn't much better. Total of Averages 2010 : 43,208.
The Top 7 attendances in Super League Average Total 2010 : 84,831
Current Averages in Super League are as follows:
1. Leeds - 15,100 (6 Games)
2. Wigan - 14,894 (7 Games)
3. Hull - 13,599 (6 Games)
4. St. Helens - 12,902 (6 Games)
5. Warrington - 11,151 (7 Games)
6. Bradford - 8,611 (6 Games)
7. Hull KR - 8,574 (6 Games)
8. Hudds - 8,327 (6 Games)
9. Catalans - 7,652 (5 Games)
10. Crusaders - 6,844 (4 Games)
11. Cas - 6,686 (6 Games)
12. Wakefield - 6,454 (6 Games)
13. Salford - 4,069 (6 Games)
14. Quins - 3,176 (6 Games)
