Boom or bust for Leigh.'"
I must admit I'm a bit surprised at the 50 k price which has been paid,I bumped into Mickey last week at a Leigh petrol station and asked him about the transfer rumours? He said he would hopefully be signing for Leigh NEXT season , but had a meeting that same day with Tony Smith to discuss his future,I think the reason the deal was made to happen was the injury to Penky , who apparently is out for the season, which is probably why a fee has been paid.

Salary cap, you're having a laugh. That's what the Leigh fans were singing a couple of years ago wasn't it Charlie?

| Tony Smiths comments dont surprise me ! here is a player who looks for money and length of contract over loyalty! Happened with Halifax after he had signed and then reneged and signed for Millward at St Helens

| Can't blame Higham. He's nearly finished so if Barn Pot Degsy wants to chuck cash at him you can't blame the lad. But £50,000 transfer fee for a 36 year old???? Mental.

| He is 34 mate and the fittest 34 you could meet,he regularly wins the wrestling comps all SL clubs have in training and owns one of these crazy gyms where you lift tractor tyres and train until you drop
£50K seems a lot though and I will be amazed if that not drip fed over the length of his contract, rumour is he was willing to buy himself out of his contract, guess we wll never know the true commercials of the deal.
Lets hope he is as over the hill as Moi Moi like most other club fans were saying.

35 in September. Nice top up at Leigh as they have the money.

| Blimey I hope your love affair isn't unrequited.
Incidentally a lot of Rugby players own gyms, a lot of Rugby players are personal trainers, so, I'm not sure why your "friend" stands out.
Very funny mate its not hard to see why most of the best comedians come from the west side of the Pennines.
I dont really know Mickey but do know lots of players who trained with him over his career and all say he is a beast in the gym and my point obviously lost on you was he might be 34 but his fitness level is of someone much younger.

| Just my opinion.
Mickey has still plenty to offer, probably another year after this or even two.
He adds real go forward as an individual and will fit straight in with the Leigh team set up.
50K is a fair chunk of money but they haven't just bought in a number nine, he has a lot of respect in the game and adds quality and leadership.
How much have we spent on players who stayed for a similar time period but were not really up to the job.
All in all I can't see any real negatives in this move.

Its a very short career and at his age you cant blame him one little bit for going after the money.

| In my very humble opinion sportspersons are no different to any employee.
All this rubbish about loyalty, how many of us, if, offered a higher salary wouldn't have moved.
Sam and Rob left Sheffield Nomads, and look at the abuse they got when ever the taxi came to town.
SAMs moved on and lot of you are now giving him abuse, Rob has gone back to No Mans Land and they now love him.
If a player wants to leave a club to better his income and therefore the security for his family who are we to wave this loyalty tag.
Loyalty is for supporters, (please note Queensbury people) employees should be able to make a decision without recriminations from us.
Incidentally, when Sam returns to Fax as he surely will how will we great him?

Hear hear. I have never understood why a sportsman should turn down a better offer of employment. Would any supporter turn down a job where their benefits would increase over loyalty to their employer? Yet supporters hypocritically abuse a player plying his trade in the toughest of games. Earn what you can while you can. Unless of course you want to win some medals with Fax.
