| Haven’t posted for a while but the last week has seen Fax’s usual trials and tribulations rolled into 7 potentially pivotal days.
Hope, proving the doubters wrong, then slammed back down to earth in a flash.
Can’t knock Fax here, they got their man, he proved his worth, it just didn’t last as long as we would have liked.
However, my frustration is that Daryl Powell now holds far too many aces for us, with a phone call he can turn us from top 4 contenders to mid table battlers. We already have to fight against a loaded system that assists development clubs in more fashionable sounding regions, and clubs with millionaires who cant afford football clubs.
So what can we do, well for me, get on the phone now and start to look at DR with Wigan, Leeds or Saints for next season. I’m really not comfy with the last few weeks highlighting the frailty of holding onto our 3 strongest performers i.e. Fleming, Maher and QLT.
Nobody can tell me Daryl Powell will not have a softer spot for Featherstone than Fax, we should avoid such potential conflicts like the plague in the future.
Were no threat to Leeds, Wigan or Saints.

Yes Its a free for all, and were the lunch, and he hasn’t gone sniffing for the other championship solid fullback Ian Hardman. He did take Finn with him though, for a bit.
Sorry Daryl, hope the board can keep it sweet until the end of the season, but want nothing more to do with this man. QLT is 33, has had his head turned, been sold a last hurrah dream, he’s not going to set SL alight though. He will make more money being a Cas bench warmer and water carrier than a potential Fax legend though, good luck to him, don’t blame him really.

| Notice Cas had a good win . No Qlt and Greg Eden back. Feels a bit like the " special relationship with USA on trade tariffs . Let's see how we go today though . It's where are the try's coming from that's key. Need Butler being put through on short passes.

| What we actually know from what those involved have said.
1. QLT signed for Fax and he asked for the release clause as part of the deal otherwise he would have looked at other options.
2. The week following on from Blackpool interest came in for Q from SL clubs, the first named club was Salford, Castleford then became aware of this (how we don’t know) and also showed interest.
3. Q was made aware of the situation, thought about it and he chose Castleford.
4. Because of the release clause and Q deciding to activate it Fax had no choice but to let him go.
5. Regardless of whether we would have him back on some loan or DR deal the club have said we may yet see him return this is why they have said it’s the best that they could get from it.
How all this affects anything else between the 2 clubs, who knows, I presume they will know a lot more than me what is actually, factually in place.

| Quote: Faxlore "I’m sure the club have received money for Q. I’m sure these clauses don’t read ‘ if a Super League club want you to play for them we will just let you go.” QLT was our player therefore money has to be paid. No club would let any player leave in the middle of a contract without some sort of remuneration.
'"
Well, we'll never know for sure, will we ?
But have you not heard of the expression "free transfer" ?
The fact is that, if Q had a clause in the contract that he was free to accept an offer from a $uper£eague club should one come along, then no doubt that agreement would be honoured.
The notion that he "was our player therefore money has to be paid" is nonsense. What was agreed is what matters.
Has he been paid his holiday pay ? That's the important question. ![Confused icon_confused.gif](images/smilies//icon_confused.gif)

| Aside of the fact that the release clause wouldn't work if the club could impose a transfer fee - "yes QLT you are free to go to Salford or Cas, as soon as they cough up the £500k transfer fee" - you can be fairly sure that any fee would have been heavily mentioned in the website story to try and sugar the pill.
Entertaining thread though, my favourite comment was the fella asking why oh why didn't Cas take Ian Hardman instead ![Very Happy icon_biggrin.gif](images/smilies//icon_biggrin.gif)

In football a lot of clauses have a trigger but still have a fee, the fact that pretty much nobody in RL pays a transfer fee these days means there isn’t going to be one. I’d say it was probably an optimistic shot in the dark to have the clause added given he’s never been in SL before, shows the lack of player talent to be hone. Or the lack of anybody willing to give a youngster the chance.

| Just thinking, if the SL clubs set up something like a second or reserve team they might have some depth to their squads, not sure if this could ever be a thing, just throwing some wild ideas out there.

| Is there any logical reason why Cas could not loan QLT back to us if not even on the bench?
