| Quote: The Lucky Black Cat "As usual Jagger talking nonsense.
1) Going FT does not mean we will be anywhere nearer to SL than being PT. Leigh and Bradford are FT and we beat them both in the 8s with a PT team! And neither went in to SL and are paying out far more than we are. Realistically we are not ready for SL on and off the pitch. The Coach and the Club have admitted that if you bother to read statements made by the club.
2) By going FT we would no doubt see a number of our experienced and quality players leave. We would have to rebuild and risk throwing money away on SL rejects and inexperienced players. Sheffield have a good 17 or 18 players, but they have a lack of strength in depth. If they lose three or four players they will struggle. They will rely on inexperienced kids that have played few first team games at either SL or Championship level. Thats a huge risk when paying out FT wages. We would be in a similar position. And realistically I cant see Sheffield getting into SL soon with that squad.
3) Funny, that last year, they were good enough to easily beat Leigh and Bradford in the 8s and also matched Hull KR and Widnes, for long periods as well. All of a sudden they are not good enough. The new players have hardly been at the club 2 minutes and some not seen action yet, but you think they are not good enough! You need to wake up and stop being so negative. Its clear you have no idea when you post such drivel. Fax bossed the first half and should have been 18+ points up. We failed to take our chances. Sheffield scored of an early chance and we lost our heads and concentration. Sheffield took advantage. The score is not a true reflection of the game over 80 Minutes, but that happens sometimes. We have one bad game and you think we are crap and the coach is not good enough etc. You may have gone Friday, but the rubbish you have posted you might as well not go again. I believe that Marshall is a quality coach, but one that is still learning as this is his first job at this level. He will make mistakes, but then so does Craig Bellamy and Wayne Bennett! I see no indication that RM will be worked out and as he said once that happens then he will change his tactics. The players are very good players at this level and most have shown that, either when playing for us or opponents. But players sometimes suffer loss of form, have issues in life that see them struggle at certain times, do not settle etc. That doesnt make them become rubbish players. If Richard Marshall feels a player is not good enough or is not right for the club than he said he will make changes including looking at bringing a youngster in-hence why he wanted a reserves and not waste money on just a first team squad or look to bring a player in from elsewhere.
4)We are 2 games in to the season, with everything to play for. I have seen many positives so far. But its clear, there are a number of things we need to work on. But thats expected. Being FT will not mean we will finish in the top 4.And being PT, does not mean we will not make the top 4. This season will see shocks and unexpected results. We and others, like Leigh, have no right to win games. Our mistakes will be punished. We need to be more clinical. We could have easily won that game on Friday, IF we had took our chances. Then we would be singing praises. We should be getting behind the club and team- no matter what. The club and team have made tremendous progress on and off the field in the past couple of years. Lets be positive instead of posting insane negative rubbish based on nothing.'"
WOW ,LBC you receI've a Type Writer for Christmas ,Rubbish is in the eye of the beholder what makes you think what you have posted is NOT rubbish?I have said before ifs all about opinions.

| So to sum up, if Johnno had decent studs in his boots the game may have been turned completely on its head and Tezza might not be saying we are rubbish (after 1 loss in 11 league games)?

Now now Norman, I'm not saying we Re rubbish , far from it,I just think going FT would have helped that's all, and asking the question, are we as good as some on this Forum think we are ?I'm predicting a win at Worky but it won't be easy,.

Terry as I have asked you many times, where would the money have come from to go full time.
Which players would we have lost.
Would any of the players available at that late stage have been any better?

Sound advise, my father in law used to say "it doesn't matter what the result is, you still have to go ro work on a Monday"
It's only uneducated jocks who say "it's more important than life or death"
No disrespect intended.

| Hi Fax fans.
No sniping & bitching from me so rest easy.
First up, in a small way I am slightly disappointed by this Fax performance myself, I will tell you why.
I have said it here before & just in case of any doubt I will say it again, this league needs the top 4 or 5 to really push each other hard, harder than ever before to stand even a cat in hells chance of scalping a few SL Clubs *between us* in the 8's.
The best scenario for a Leigh fan would be that certainly Fax & Bulls are top 3 at the end & both manage to upset the apple cart by taking a good victory against a SL opponent, while being not quite as strong as Leigh. It would take a strong Fax & Bulls side to help Leigh & you might/might not believe a strong Leigh could also do Fax a favour.
Let's say in theory that Leigh peak for the 8's & qualify for SL without a £1m game (maybe a pipe dream, maybe even not achievable) but Bulls & Fax also have a good 8's. Now, with a bit of turmoil or spiralling loss of form from a Wakey or a K.R *insert any bottom SL Club here* & a defeat or 2 from Bulls or Fax & suddenly either of your Clubs could be in the £1m game with Leigh already promoted. Of course this could also work in reverse, Fax/Bulls promoted & Leigh/another Championship side in the £1m game.
Sounding far fetched so far ?
So, while yes you lost a game & so did Leigh, it is all about building up to the 8's, furthermore I agree wholeheartedly with a poster on the Leigh forum who quite rightly says that it is more important to try & nil teams than win by a big margin but have a leaky defence.
These SL Clubs will punish weak defences & at Leigh this has been an issue, score lot's of tries but defence not quite 100%.
You don't find out much about your team by thrashing a middling or poor Championship team.
So good luck to Fax & Bulls & a few others, push hard & raise the standards of Championship RL to benefit every aspiring Clubs chances of SL in the future.
By the way, HalifaxJohn has become my favourite visiting poster on the Leigh pages, Jagger is quite fun at times but should have spent more time at SKOOL in English lessons.
Hoping & looking forward to a cracker at 'The Shed' Stadium in March.
Steve.

| Far as I'm concerned Steve I hope there isn't many thrashings as they do no one any good.
The Championship is bar far the strongest it has been for years.
Some games I will be going to I will have the other team as favourites, some I will be going to Fax will be but there will be a lot where I will be going not knowing who will come out on top, that's the way it should be, a real competition up for grabs edge of your seat stuff.
Workington away will be another tough game, Fax should be good enough but my head says anything could happen and it would not be a total shock if we lost.

| I agree faxcar, it's a really strong, good quality Championship & much more exciting for it.
FWIW, while we all as fans would love to see our cherished clubs up in Super Dooper League, the entertainment on offer in this comp is not to be dismissed.
At Leigh we have quite a few Wire fans coming to watch when they have no game & the way they talk about games & how much they enjoy coming to them just goes to show that there is very much life & good RL beyond Super League.
Good Luck for the season.

| Tezza, I think if the BOD thought we could go and sustain full time then we would have done but they obviously believe at this current time we need to build the infrastructure to allow that to happen. Getting in to SL is obviously the end game but not at the cost of the club.

If I remember correctly Richard had the choice this year either to go full time or to have a Reserve side he had no hesitation in choosing a Reserve side his intention I think is to go full time next year .

You remember correctly, from what I also remember, they wanted to set foundations in place for the longer term plan.. And not all the squad could necessarily go full time just like that anyway...
But more importantly, did they consult Terry on this? Call an EGM
