One thing this new competition is doing is finally allowing Super League fans to get it. I'm sure everyone would want the middle 8s to be a proper competition...

However, I don't think SL fans understand it's not just about funding now for this competition but the irreversible damage that the self centred licencing experiment did to championship clubs.

I like the format and think it works ok. Then again we are not getting hammered every week like Bradford and Sheffield. Im so looking forward to the improvement it will bring us for next season playing the likes of KR and Widnes.

Another good performance today and although KR looked much better in the first 20 we stuck in there and as the game went on we seemed to get stronger as we got to the pace of the game which was a step up from last week. If that ball sticks to Murrell its not daft to say we were in with a shot of winning the game.

As someone who has spent the entire summer era booking holidays around the fixture list, I finally gave up this year due to them not being announced until 29th July! Consequently I'm missing 2 home games in Sept despite paying for them on my pass. This will be reflected across the game especially during August. I know 8 pass holders not in attendance today due to holiday commitments.

The RFL are crucifying teams trying to get fans into the grounds.

I think it's a bit disrespectful to you to say we didn't get out of first gear we didn't play well but that was down to how well you played as I've said on our board the scoreline flattered us your fans were great we were very quiet quite unlike us you brought more than half the SL clubs bring and I've got a feeling you'll get the fifth place as your defence is very good and good to see Scott murrell still pulling the strings good luck with the rest of the season

Fax put on a good show today, stood up well and defended the line strongly, but it has to be said lacked periods of momentum that SL teams create. Its all about pressure and Rovers exerted it at the right time.

I wouldn't be despondent, this years mid8s are all about experience. To play 4 SL teams with the draw against you is always going to be a challenge (as Leigh are finding out) but it is something to build from; knowing the business end of the season is all about going up a gear should prepare teams for next seasons assault (not that I am ruling out a sudden change of form from a Championship side).

If Fax can recruit more front row experience and another go-forward 9 then they will be a threat next season.

Well played... . You went into the comp as the form championship side and it showed. Deffo best defensive effort out of the big three and i would expect to see you in the "Million pound" game. If you can lift your game another level and you would have to...could be interesting. Your No. 20 was very lively.

Great effort again Fax. Realistically we are not near SL level in a number of areas both on and off the field and the club know that. But I think its a great test for players and the team as a whole and shows us areas where we are lacking. For me we lack composure at key times and thats why we have lost both games. The effort from all us there. The defence is spot on. But we need to take the half chances that come are way. I think it also gives RM a good chance of who can compete at this level and who is sadly not up to it. But we have shown we can match FT Sl teams for most of the match and the standards have been set. Lets hope that just because we are playing Sheffield next that our efforts dont have to be as high as against HKR and Widnes.

Yeah apologies maybe a bit disrespectful on the 1st gear front but I we obviously wasn't firing and I think we'd have been turned over by most SL sides with a performance like that. Quietest ive heard our lot for a while, it's typically quiet first home game after a big match though for some reason, like everyone's hungover. But credit to your fans, definitely up there with the most numbers and most vocal we've had here this season. Someone commented earlier on your pack but I think you need some backs with pace and real strike with a quality full back and you'll be going places next year.

Like the lads said at the beginning the hard work was getting fourth, so now it is all about fun as they know they won't get promoted but the money and the development will be priceless in Fax moving forward and it will improve the Championship next year.

Yes this year it going to be a huge gap but next year I expect that gap to reduce. Once RM gets the reserve team he wants, I expect even bigger moves forward for Fax, just look at Mannely for example.

I think Halifax played well and were the better team for long periods in the game.

I don't think that you played to your best as you dropped plenty of ball and gifted us quite a lot of opportunities in your half. Whilst your defensive effort was really good to mitigate this, I think the reason that we are a little despondent is that a better team would have ruthlessly capitalised on them. We couldn't! That said I suppose that could be flipped around and if your ball retention was better you may not have been chasing the game with 10 to play.

Either way a gutsy performance for you guys and your second try was a really good one - it even had some in the East stand applauding.

We have moved up the middle 8 league from 7th to 6th!
A win against Sheffield this week is a must. I think the first two games have gone better than we expected. We have made the two SL teams work hard and a few late tries in each game have made the games look a bit one sided but we all know they haven't been.

Sheffield is massively important next week, if we can pick up the win and sneak a win off someone like Leigh its not totally inconceivable that we could end up 5th or 6th on points difference. Bradford are relying on beating the Champ teams and then getting the better of Leigh to get 5th and leigh look like a team that are running out of juice and they peaked a long time ago this year. Its there for the taking.

With a few key signings Im really excited to see how close we can get to the full time teams next season and I wouldnt be surprised to see a bigger gulf than this season open up between the top 4 and the rest.
