I think some of you are vastly underating his signing! And basing 'penalty machine' one game against you lot, based on all I have seen of you lot on tele he's three times the player of Thamghart & Watened (IMO icon_wink.gif ).

From what I read earlier in the season he's just what you need as well, he'll make the hard yards, do the no nonsense stuff and also won't take to being pushed about (Barlow & Barrow NRC as two). He may have conceded a few extra pens this season BUT you have to remember a lot of the time he was the pnly out and out prop over 23 in our side most weeks so had a lot of pressure on him and his work rate was exceptional and obviously appreciated by the club and our players last year (end of season awards).

Dissapointed to see him go, however it was only ever going to be for one more year here so fair play to him, and let's await his replacement.

Cheers for all the 100% effort you put in big man!

Thanks J2O. Thats the news we want to hear. If Widnes fans are dissapointed to see him leave then it makes me feel more comfortable about him coming here. I, for one, liked him the last time he was here and he will have only gained much more experience. I think he will be a good "forward"ambassador

Having looked at this and then other signings so far it looks like Calland & Hall are trying to tighten up our defence, we all know that we can score points from just about anywhere so this is a positive move IMO.

We could score points from anywhere with the players we had last seadon. I would be happier hearing Black, Worrincy, Patterson, etc had all signed.

Not impressed as his discipline is poor and thought he was average against us last year.
BUT he may be one of those that is inspired by moving to a club that deep down he has always been part of, being an adopted Fax boy!
I hope so as its like a 'Back to the Future' film icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif

I hope so as its like a 'Back to the Future' film think you hit the nail on the head. he was poor against us and gave more penalties against us. but was better against other teams.

Haha nah, but he is a mate.

He's definitely looking forward to being back down the shay and wants to go out on a high and continue what we started last year.

Providing, touch wood, he has no injuries, he will be invaluable to us next year. He's going to bring that defensive steel we lacked at certain points in the past two years.

Well played Matt Calland.

I think that's what swung it for me, he WANTS to play for Fax, very much in the same vein as Holroyd. How much did Fax fans villify Holroyd when he didn't play for Fax between 2000-2007? Now look at how much he is revered, Gannon could well be similar.

Just look at the past couple of coaches he has played for, McChocker and Cullen, hardly exponents of free running, clean Rugby League are they? Playing under Calland, Ball, Proctor et al I think we will see a different, more Gannon of old.
