We did curtail the reserve season for various reasons, but we had lost half of our very good reserve team from the previous seasons - Carter, Backhouse, Dutton, Kaighan, Pedley, McKenna, Liam Finch and James Finch - all to Workington. They were all offered regular first team rugby and first team money.

Of course we'd love to have a burgeoning youth set-up and I know the BOD have set that as a priority. As much as people would like to say otherwise, a scholarship/academy structure can be set-up quite quickly as long as the right people are employed. Indeed, it's probably one of the easiest criteria to hit. At most clubs scholarship teams are pretty much run by local Amateur coaches.
