| As an ambassador of the club I work for & love, having supported for almost 40 years, I sometimes wonder why I bother responding to negative posts on this messageboard, but sometimes things have to be said.
There's nothing like a defeat to bring out the dead-wood, negativity, etc etc.
But, tonight I'm aware to the fact that certain players shouldn't have played due to injury and recovery from injury, but they did and from what I saw, nobody deliberately knocked on, missed a tackle or whatever you'd like to criticise.
The criticisms aimed at Calland & his staff for each & every loss are in my opinion grossly unfair.
Do people think that we practice the art of losing the ball, missing a tackle, losing to a better team ?
Tonight we were beaten by a better team, so what. No Tamghart, Wrench, Haley, Larder & blokes putting their hands up to play for the team when they were clearly less than 100%, I'd say let's see what the end of the seaon brings and not judge anyone now.

| Quote: wereutherein1987? "When you are dominated by a stronger defence like we were you are made to look hopeless in attack!
Our plays were slow - they put us on our backs every tackle and as a consequence no forward momentum and a lot of static flat plays.
MC can prepare them for all the moves in the world but if your not controlling the ruck forget it!'"
Completely agree. That was the difference. When Fax made the tackle they thought the work was done and got back, allowing them to get quick play the balls time after time against little if any line speed. When Fev made the tackle they carried on working, winning the ruck and most times got our man on his back, then worked to get up in defence quickly. That sort of thing does come under coaching though and we should be aware of this tactic as it does make a huge difference.

Nice to read some sense.......Thats the 1st game we've lost in 9.
Yes we weren't too good tonight, but that doesn't mean we're on the scrapheap.Get behind the manager and the team for the rest of the season. You never know whats gonna happen next.
Everyone, well nearly everyone on here, predicted that we were going to win this game.Like the man says we just got beaten by the better team on the night. As supporters stay positive and get behind the team;Thats what we're supposed to be there for innit??
Bring on Dewsbury away.............score predictions anyone??

| We do need to be more cohesive though - both in defence and attack. It's OK having a number of classy individual players but we need a more structured game plan. Every time we start our set of six i'm expecting a knock on or a brain fart. Every time we start defending a set i expect a penalty. It does no good for my nerves! During the madcap 46-40 victory at Leigh we had a spell of fifteen minutes where we defended like Featherstone did last night. It was structured and penalty free. Please lets have more of this.
We are still in the mix.
However, it would be good to get back to winning ways immediately. Everytime we lose some fans start hacking into the club's computer system and start trawling through the internal financial statements of the club.
Quote: Fax4Life "Sadly the way the club are going we may not have the players to keep us at the top of this league next season we are skint.'"
Please would you be so kind as to provide a link to the club's cash flow statement and an internal P&L. It's good to share.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

I wonder what something like that would mean to a Rugby League team without a wealthy backer.

| Anyway are we ready for the generic Calland interview in the paper? Wonder which quotes they will reel out today.
"There was no point shouting at them"
"We just needed to point them in the right direction and show them where they were going wrong."
"We still lacked patience at times"
"We had started the game well but then went away from it a little bit."
"We lacked urgency and enthusiasm"
"We need a major step up."
etc etc.
Now the one thing that grates a bit is that when Calland was suspended all players were moaning and crying about how they wanted him back yet most of the time it dosnt appear that they are playing for him, maybe some are and some are not, for me though its more a case of some of the players are on easy street and are afraid if another coach comes in they may actually have to step it up a bit.

They wouldn't exist in the form that they're currently in. Warrington et al would become Halifax, Leigh and Featherstone.
