Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”

It don't happen, ALL teams get offside at some part of a game.'"
Widnes won the forward battle. Surprising, but it happened. Our backs and halfbacks did the rest.
Ronnie Laughton and off-sides had nothing to do with it.

We need another Prop true.
You missed the point, the offisdes gave you good field position which your pack took advantage of yes, your backs were average it was the short drives that did us from the piggy backing first half.

Then perhaps Calland should drill your team better at the play the ball.

I thought he was quite bad to be honest, and yes, inconsistant, but to have whined about him after Gateshead had taken us apart anyway would have ben ungracious.

| I don't mind rubbish referees as long as they are consistant. Colin Morris for example, absolutely shocking referee but he was for BOTH SIDES.
Laughton yesterday was the most inconsistant referee I have ever seen in my life. He penalised Said for not playing the ball properly, the next 3 Widnes play the balls were not played properly and did not penalise for the same offense the rest of the game. Its a dumb penalty to give as you will have to give it near enough every play the ball in accordance with the rule book, who no plays the ball 'properly'?
He was not to blame for our loss, we had enough chances to win that game twice, but he did piggy back Widnes up the field to enable them to have their chances.

| Gutted. Only good thing was we still should have won despite Ronnie Laughton. Were we really that undisciplined in the first half to be on the wrong end of a 7-1 penalty count? If he could watch the video of that first half again and say deep down in his heart that Widnes were never offside or holding down then i would shake his hand and say well done Ronnie, great game.He couldnt though.
I do get the feeling that we are punished for being too quick for the opposition and too quick for referees. A couple of times yesterday when we made half breaks on the 3rd and 4th tackle we played the ball so quick even the ref hadnt managed to get back the 10 metres so what chance have we of getting a penalty. It was a SL standard game and should have been reffed by a competant ref.
Once again though it was basic errors and wrong options that came back to cost us. I can only remember Widnes making a couple of half breaks yet i remember us making 6 or 7 but if you cant put points on the board you dont win anything.

Or teach them how to tackle around the throat and face and to grapple the man on the floor.
or better still
Perhaps someone should teach Laughton how to spot these things!!!!!!

| There have been one or two fans that have had the cojones to admit that the better team won yesterday..
Laughton is an atrocious referee and we have been on the wrong side of a torrent of bad decisions in the past. However yesterday he did something that most refs don't do which is consult with his linesmen.
As Pepe already mentioned your last try was a blatant crossing and on the last play your lad blatantly stepped out but play was allowed to continue. There was also the tackle on Webster that should have been given as completed but you were allowed to pick him up off the floor and carry him out.
Yesterday though your loss could not have been blamed on the ref... We have seriously upped the stakes in terms of our performances and are getting better week on week.
Admittedly you were penalised heavily but to hear that he cost you the game and to be so ungracious as to think that 'you woz robbed' shows disrespect and that you have all grown swollen heads. Listening to some of the posts it seems that you lot think you alone own the rights to play entertaining rugby! Get off your high horses.
It was a proper arm-wrestle at times but we applied the finish when needed.
There are idiots on our board, but you will find that these are identified as such by our own fans.
Well done on playing your part in an entertaining game and commiserations on losing. You are still the team to beat at the moment and our reaction to winning showed that.

| At times it felt that Cullen was ref'n the match rather than Laughton!
Hall was down injured when they scored their winning try, another player was lining up the kick & then Cullen started shouting across to Laughton to wait until they had strapped up Hall so he could take the kick.
If the ref had any bottle, he'd have told him to shut up & make the other player take the kick!
As I pointed out during the week on the other thread, not one person can remember Laughton having a good game whether their team had won or lost! He actually makes me want Hick's or Childs to ref our games!!!

Get over it!! Better team won on the day...
Unless it was a head injury which I don't believe it was there is no need to stop the play for an injury especially as it wasn't in the direction of play..
In terms of Hall taking the kick.. Laughton had already called time off as there wasn't a kicking tee on the pitch.

| Not sure that he cost us the game or not every time we put widnes under pressure ....house dug them out of it with a penalty. Every time we were put under pressure the none too square markers were allowed to do what they wanted!!
Godd luck in the final widnes. Not that I care who wins.
