| I think this is the case and as the enforcer says it will be for a business decision which I am sure will be explained.

| There was a fashion for newspaper style programmes at football clubs in the 1970s. Derby County, Coventry City and Preston North End spring immediately to mind but I'm sure there were others. None of them lasted very long.
I must admit that I didn't like them at the time. They were difficult to read when at a match and were tatty by the time you got home. To me, if Fax went down that route it would be a retrograde step. I very much doubt if I would ever buy one even if it was the price of the Sun (which I doubt).

| I believe the art of ordering the correct amount is difficult and very expensive if over ordered.

| Definitely won't be buying one if it the newspaper style.Appreciate that it difficult to judge how many programmes to order but if they over ordered the club who they were playing may be interested in selling at their home ground for people who not able to attend the game at Fax and Fax could do the same

| Thumbs down from me especially as a fanatical programme collector they have never been liked as others have said football clubs tried and binned them years ago please DON'T.
With a bit of effort if the programme had more in it like Leigh's it would sell more, ours is very average plus many times they have been sold out before the game as not enough have been printed.

With respect more often too many left than a shortage.

| With respect HJ i would like to know where these programmes were as i struggled on several occasions to get one i know its a fine line when ordering but sometimes the small amount available in the East Stand bordered on the ridiculous

Loving the hypocrisy of some.: |

| I have said on here before that a matchday programme is more of a hassle for a club - certainly the size of Fax (not meant in a condescending way) - than a benefit. Even when taking into consideration advertising revenue and programme sales, the time and effort that goes into producing a programme barely makes it worth while.
When I worked for HTAFC and had responsibility for putting together the programme I viewed it as an unwelcome distraction - chasing contributors for their articles, (more often than not) having to write the Chairman and Managers notes, putting together articles to fill in blank pages, etc. Dropping off the final version and then having to pick the printed copies usually at an unsociable hour also didnt help. Then you have to sort the correct numbers for the changing rooms, press, board room, diners/sponsors, mail orders; organise/liaise with the programme sellers and then deal with disgruntled supporters when you have sold out and they didnt get one.

You're missing the point though. All the 'hassles' will remain it's just the size and quality that will change. My preference is for a prog same shape and quality as now but with far less pages to cut down on cost.I have no desire for Fax to win a prog award for producing glossy 60 page editions packed with colour photos.10/12 should cover the essentials of a matchday prog which should encompass the mood of the club at a period of time
as it's priority.

| No, the point is that it may make the hassle more worth while. Though obviously it could back fire if people stop buying it due to its inferior quality of print (if thats the case).

| I heard a while ago it was going to the newspaper style, I believe the production cost is lower than the glossy style.
Personally I'd like to see the club find a way to sell it as a download to view online or on a tablet, dont think it would be a massive job to get the print version onto a PDF type file, subscriptions could be sold up front, and getting hold of back issues would never be a problem if someone wanted to view a particular one

I don't know how as on numerous times there was none left at the South Stand end so is something going wrong with distribution as the programme sellers told me a few times they had only been given a limited number?

I was told by a programme seller at one game that only 35 programmes had been supplied for sale in the East Stand.
Not surprisingly, they were sold out nearly 40 minutes before kick-off.
It wouldn't have sent out a good message to visiting supporters in that stand who arrived in good time for the game but still missed out on acquiring a programme that day.
I wondered at the time how many were left lying around in the corporate/dining areas.
To many supporters, a programme is part of the matchday experience.
If the Club do go for a newspaper style issue, is there any guarantee that these will be made available in sufficient numbers or will the same supply issue still persist?
