Some interesting comments about Mick Gledhill leaking the Finn story from the Dewsbury FB page by Steven Downes, their former media manager:

I know I rarely speak on the group anymore but obviously have been watching the club's progress from afar. I am pleased the club is doing so well.
Unfortunately this is one of those instances I came up against a lot at the Rams when I was the club's media manager. Mick has lots of contacts and speaks to people generally around the sport. Unfortunately instead of speaking to people at the club he blurts info out on social media which then effects the club. When Bradford Bulls played at our ground this happened quite a lot with Mick making statements with info before the club can put a plan in place to mediate this in the right way to good supporters like yourselves.
Whilst in my role there were only a few instances where Mick was able to get the better of me because I controlled the situation.
Unfortunately Mick will always be Mick and won't go through proper and professional channels.
Having worked with Finny he is a true pro and won't let this effect the team.

Difference is, Matt Shaw is an actual journalist, works for a publication (granted its Reach PLC and they bury his stuff on the examiner website), Mick is a bedroom reporter, and a bit of a joke in RL circles.

Going off track a little rugby league live have reported that Sheffield are trying to sign Liam watts from cas and Eddie battye from wakey. I would like us to be in for players like this they may not be in their prime anymore but would be a upgrade on our current front row options.

Probably just a dream for us at the moment signing players of that calibre especially with the playing budget likely to get smaller next season after a poor showing this year.

Think Battye is 31 and Watts 33 so there are a few years left in them yet depending how they look after themselves. You wonder where Eagles get their funds as doubt they would come cheap. TBF i'm happy with getting Douglas, liked what I saw of him when here on loan, and he goes 26 this time so hopefully still to hit his peak.

I do not know if you saw the interview with Richard durgan on FB. I would of liked the person doing the interview to ask when they was talking about next years recruitment if our budget will be lower or higher as some have said. Just to clear it up or is it dependent on us finishing in the top 6.

I go to a few cas games with living locally and there games not clashing with ours and i would say that the Liam watts you see today is a shadow of the player he was a few years ago. He does have business interests outside of rugby so a move to part time rugby may suit him or he could be a good pick up for the side that gets promoted from the championship this year. As for Battye i have rated him since is first spell at the eagles and he reminds me of some of the forwards at Batley short and stocky and hard to pull down. Just on where do Sheffield get there money from i was talking to a group of there fans on friday night and they all said the council are putting money into the club make of that what you will.

There was an interesting interview with Craig Lingard on BBC Radio Leeds today saying how he’s not sure if he will even be at Cas next year. If that’s the case I’d be more than happy with him at Fax. I hope Richard Durgen has seen the interview and will drop him a phone call.
