| It has helped Featherstone this season. If it's there why not use it. We had it with Hull KR last season and we didn't have to use their players. If we had the DR still it could have potentially helped us in reaching that top 4 this season.

Its sad but I think the best we can now hope for is Fev to beat Bradford which should level down Bradford again next season and gives Fev the chance to get their finances sorted while hopefully not improving their squad too much. If its the other way around I fear for both us and Fev as I expect Leigh, Bradford, and london all to be better next season.'"
Good points, do Toulouse get promoted yet?

Aye we did and what did it achieve? We ended up signing one very ordinary player, who we could have got without DR, gave another player a thirty minute run out to get fit and sullied the great name of Halifax RLFC forever. WOW!

has to be got rid of at end of season. also make it compulsory SL teams have reserve sides.

| DR is a joke and I'm proud of what we have achieved with our own squad.
But...... Don't we DR players to other clubs and we've just had our season ended by a team that used DR better than we didn't.....

I refer to gingdong's post earlier. He pointed out rovers were happy urge all clubs outside of sl to opt out of the dual reg system.
However, if just one club uses it another will use it in an attempt to balance out that "advantage". Though hunslet donny swinton and york fans might disagree as to exactly what advantage fielding dual reg players gave them.
Best scenario is that we all say no. I doubt it will happen.
Next year fax are likely to have reduced funding = a leaner squad.
I dont know what the fax club approach to using dual reg will be next year.... but if using quality SL players in your team that actually gets you those points lost this season in Cumbria and v oldham.. do you think they will be tempted to use it more extensively.... or do you think they might opt out in 2017?
I hate the system.

| I don't like DR at all, but.....
You take a clear stance and don't use it and tell your fans
Or
You take a clear stance and do use it and tell your fans.
Fax appear to be in the second category and in that case our use of it has not produced any clear benefits. Bad coaches choices?

| Here's the thing: there's the thick end of half a million prize money difference between doing very well and doing quite well in the Championship nowadays. Regardless of whether you agree with DR or not, if them's the rules, and you're the chairman pumping thousands upon thousands into your club, you're going to do whatever you can within the rules to give your team the best chance of winning one of those bigger prize money chunks.
And to the fella who said get your own squad rather than using everyone else's, what about Salford's Sarsfield and Castleford's Boyle, whilst the likes of Saxton/Smeaton/Maneely/Robinson etc were farmed off elsewhere?
To be honest I don't think there's a team in the Championship that can get holier-than-thou over DR. Every team has used it I think (inwardly or outwardly), hardly any fans like it, but it's what we're stuck with at the moment.

| There is a big difference between the loan market-which has universal approval-and DR.

People keep saying this, but in practice is there that much difference? I know at one stage, at least, Sarsfield's deal was a week-to-week and he could be recalled at any time. I also seem to remember Craven suddenly being recalled by Widnes when he was with you last season.

| Take our situation for example,Marshall controls what he wants on loans either 1/3 months or extended with recall clauses.Yes they can be a gamble, but that's always been the case. What we don't want is HKR telling us we have to play Robinson and Cox on sunday as they need a game.

| Loans are different. The player has to be there at least 28 days. The club knows he's available.
DR - you don't know til Thursday at best.
It's a nonsense - return to the system that stood us in good stead for over 100 years.

Fair point about the 28 days, but after that it's no different. I remember reading an article published on a Wednesday when Sarsfield became week-to-week with Fax as soon as the 28 days were up saying nobody knew if he would be available for Fax's game at Whitehaven three days later until Salford decided if they wanted him.
And I think we all agree it's a nonsense!

Yep, it's true that all bets are off after 28 days but, to be fair, that 28 days is often, in itself, a fair commitment. You may of course, send him back after 28 days and have him return on the 29th. In which case you get a new 28 day commitment.
The loan system was never intended to be open-ended. It's to cover short term injury crises and the like. You shouldn't really be relying on loan players for a whole season. Sign your own players instead of cadging off other folk. In that sense, I don't think the rules are unfair. There's a balance to be made.
