Personally I think that one good thing has come out of this situation - making the council aware that they have to maximise revenue for what they've got. We've seen an example of that recently with the sponsorship of the East Stand. It has paid for work to be done on the ground with no risk to either club or the tax payer. I'm quite happy for Reactiv to sponsor the Shay, but see no need for them to own it.

And yes, if anyone else tries to buy the ground I'll fight it just as hard - especially if it is the football club's BOD.

I agree it`s certainly time someone did however I have to wonder why the stadium manager allowed it to become a dumping ground given the amount of " hidden space " there is in the stadium . Anyone else looking to think of leasing it would be put off ,who does all the rubbish belong to ?
If nobody is paying rent on the place it should be empty and ready for someone to lease it .

Some one earlier in the post said Town had been negotiating with the council for this space.
Perhaps during the negotiations Town could have put a curtain up to hide the mess. Come to think of it they could use the blanket they use on match days to cover our very large well stocked trophy cabinet.

With respect it's usually me who has been accused of rose coloured spectacles, head in the ground, etc etc, but I have to say that look out on the ground from the East Stand bar and everything looks as you say. Enter the ground from the South Stand area and as Mr Abbott said it is a disgrace.
Some of the upstairs room are now looking shabby and lets not forget the council promised new drainage an electronic scoreboard and an improvement to the skeleton between the South and East stands. None of this happened and I see no reason why it will in the future. The council will let it fall further into disarray.
As I remember Mr Abbott promised all of this with a reduction in rent for both clubs. How? by utilising the stadium.
But hey, lets not look to a bright future, lets look forward to the days of grass?shale and rust.

Incorrect about the drainage, significant drainage work has happened over the summer. The work was paid for by sandal BMW. Hence the east and south stands new name.

Was a slight dig at the lack of rent payments by the rugby club over the past 18-24 months, i suspect.
