On National TV he shouldn't be allowed to so abruptly say that and give the impression Halifax have no chance based on nothing (there was no debate ongoing nor has he seen anyone's applications). The fact that Eddie and Phil Clarke said next to nothing in reply leads the RL watching Nation thinking Halifax, a Club who have work endlessly on the bid and have actually passed the criteria, have no chance. Halifax RLFC want to build a positive momentum behind their Club and sh*te like this from a pundit doesn't help in the slightest. Lots of people will believe anything if it's on the TV nowadays and now we have people thinking Halifax are cr@p and worse than some of the Clubs is SL.

He didn't insult the club, that isn't the issue. The problem is he had no reason to express such an opinion on a subject that he has no background information on whilst on national tv. The comments were out of proportion in his insistence and also out of context in regards to the conversation taking place. Even Eddie seemed a bit taken aback by it. Why say it at all? It wasn't needed and imagine the feedback from wakey, cas, widnes fans for example if he said the same about them with no just reason.

They might not be though, a lot of sport will have armchair fans or part-time enthusiasts. I sometimes watch other Sports programmes and just go off what they say. If I watched an English Hockey show and they said the York Wizards had no chance of a franchise in between highlights I'd just think that.

That's a cr@ply made up scenario, but even in your own sport to your own fans an 'air of fairness and positivity' should been on show and that certainly wasn't.

The thing is being abrupt is just Carney's style and what at times makes him a better pundit then the rest.

He said similar when talking about Quins in SL saying just not good enough with crowds etc... Few moans then.

Just moved past it but to be fair they've got to keep to timings, news clips, adverts etc they can't just stop and go 'Hang on, explain further...' and have a 5 minute debate un-scheduled.
