Anyone attempting to go into SL without a rich backer is mad. Unless you settle for bottom table mediocrity. Even Ken Davy must be rustling about in his deep pockets thinking "why do I bother"?

That's the disadvantage of living hand to mouth with a rich backer. It would be better for clubs to be self sufficient but hardly any can do that. Not enough sponsorship coming through, not enough Sky money to pay our players what they're worth. Generally, not enough money.

Huddersfield without Davy = Fax without Gartland - eventual sinking into lower leagues.

in todays courier, rhino said fax were in for him with an offer that would have made him one of the top earners at the club, but fev offered more so he went there.

Wouldn't every coach say something similar just to deflect the blame of missing out, in a similar way Fev have talked about missing out on Tonka/Barlow, Rhino talking about Fev wrestling tick-tacks after losing out on the chance to finish top of the league, Powell throwing out the teddy after the NRC final, etc.

Just take it all with a pinch of salt, not everything you read is truth!

Whatever thing is we missed out on him and we now need a quality hooker and/or halfback IMHO. Whether Fev offered more who cares? I think Fax have to move on and get some quality in thats so far missing. Our team so far for 2013 doesnt look that good but maybe in a month we will be in a much stronger position. The board have done everything they can its now up to Rhino to get the right players. I dont rate a few of his signings both from last year and recent signings, but for me him and they have 12 months to prove things. If Fax have a poor season, then RHino should go at the END not mid season, despite what some people will shout if we have possibly a season that we dont really push on. There is only one team going to SL and its Featherstone for me. They are a class above on the field in most games and have consistantly been the best team this past 3 years and the signings look more like they are moving to SL soon. They have a powerful board that run the club very well. Halifax are not too far behind off the field but in certain key areas for me are still very much lacking. Fev have overtaken us sadly for the next SL spot.

Don't know why Rhino would have to say that any modern day player will go where they get the most money all this kissing the badge doesn't wash with me Barlow will of stopped with Fax because they offered him more money than Fev that must of slipped Rhinos mind It looks like he is now moving on so really not that bothered what shirt he wears as long as the money goes into the bank As long as Fax and Fev don't try to outbid one another on players and get into money problems may the best club get there players they want Any Ellis is with us for now so lets see who Fax get because there main man has gone and will take some replacing as will Barlow

ok, so lets just see where Fev are winning;

Ground - worse ground in Championship? irrelevant that it's owed cos it needs £3m spending on it to house any decent spectacle
Crowd - less than us and Leigh as home attendance AVG, even with all their on field success (cabinet full of league leaders trophies)
Strong board - who's the money man, they haven't got one just like us and Leigh
On field performance - how many GF wins in last 3 year? 1 just like us, NRC trophies - NON us 1


Sorry but don't see why Fev are any higher than us or Leigh or even sheff in the pecking order for SL.

Ground been sorted so cannot comment until next season. Hope we don't have to close one end and leave one corner half built with on money to finish off

On field performance League championship 3 times Grand Final 3 times Under 23s champions woman RL champions teams and club run like every S/l club set up ( like Sheffield and both in the final again )
