| Quote: gizempo "I find the amount of animosity between the 2 clubs and sets of supporters totally bizarre. Neither club can be proud of their financial matters over recent years, but to keep looking back is pointless.
Personally I just don’t get it! We have 2 clubs who play in different sports so they don’t directly compete with each other and therefore in that regard are not a threat to each other. They both represent the same town, and use the town’s name. They both play in the same colours at the same venue and both are not getting enough people through the turnstiles. History is history, I just can’t believe in this modern day the clubs are not doing more to work with each other, economise, be more efficient, e.g. one marketing team, shared promotional and fundraising events, explore joint sponsorship deals, a shared retail outlet. And maybe more clout to get the council or stadium owners to provide facilities fit for both teams.
Instead, we have the petty minded point scoring against each other, fans obsessed with the other club more than their own teams performance, wanting the other club to fail (when in fact both really need the other to succeed).'" I couldn't agree more.

What I find really depressing is that a lot of the posts on this board recently could have been copy and pasted from the football club's: lack of communication from BOD, failure to attract the next generation of fans, lack of visibility in town, no fixture lists for fans to hand out, falling spectator numbers in what is each club's biggest season in years.
If both clubs could work together, both at a fan level right through to a BOD level, imagine what cross-selling each could do. We could have fans handing out double sides fixture lists, we could have kit made by the same local suppliers, if we ever get a shop we could share staff costs, we could even have joint season ticket offers or reduced price entry for season ticket holders at the other club.
Yes, there are some anti-rugby posts on our board, but the thread Faxcar has highlighted has gone off into a discussion about how you used to see the same people at both clubs each week. I doubt it's unconnected that attendances at both clubs have dropped as ill-feeling between the clubs has grown.
Despite what some think I came on this board as I was aware many of you thought the FOIs came from an anti-Fax agenda. I came to try to dispel that myth and give you the opportunity to ask me questions. I still say my reason for doing it was my anti-private ownership stance, no matter who the buyer was or is connected to. I only made the recent post re the arrears clarification as I'd discussed it with Nat, and indeed GFB had posted a link to my posting on the other forum before I posted it on here, so I'm not solely responsible for resurrecting the topic.
I do believe that, especially in these tough times, neither club can achieve their full potential without a strong pan-sport base in the town, and that the bickering is damaging both clubs.
I've still got one FOI outstanding - rent paid by both clubs. I will post the results for anyone who cares to read them. Other than that I won't post unless asked a direct question as it's not my intention to get into arguments or be seen as a troll.
Regards, and good luck for the rest of the season,
DM

| To be fair, he's a decent lad is Dangermouse, he doesnt spout the nonsense that some of the other idiots on the town forum do.
In some respects, we need to thank him for exposing what is going on. We can only form opinions based on the information we have and Dangermouse is providing a whole lot more of that than the club or the secret society trust.

| Well, having read through that, the thing that immediately springs to mind is does the shop at the Shay give value for money? It appears to cost the club nearly £1,000 per month so I think not considerring that it is normally only open for around 2 half days each week. It may be worth giving it up now that we have our town centre outlet (or perhaps that is what the club have in mind).

| The thing that strikes me is the cost per game is much higher for RL - who pays stewards etc?

| FC Halifax Town do have a small shop in the portacabin, not a full blown shop as such but still extra floorspace which is part of the equation when you pay rent.

| Surely the fairest, most transparent way to calculate the rent would be by breaking it down to a charge for shop/office space and an equal, per match charge for stadium use for each club??

Does anyone know if anything has changed in the Councils thinking since October when this was published.
It's a genuine question concerning if the sale of the Shay is still on the agenda anytime soon.
Please do not reopen the Reactiv TA debate that has been flogged to death.
