What a fantastic game and congratulations to both teams and fans for a brilliant day. I just never expected something like that so early in a season, bodes well for what i expect to be several more meetings this year. When Finn missed the kick to leave it all square i thought, that'll do me lets get off home and i do think a draw would have been a fair result. We gave far too much space to your half backs and Penky who is a right little **** was superb. I thought a couple of your posters were a bit unfair to the lads who fronted up today when they said "wait till our missing players get back". Would they have played any better, well we had two of them with us and i'll tell you now IMO no they wouldn't have. I thought the referee was pretty poor today for both sides and the sending offs were patheitic, as Karl said this is RL and a talking to the captains and a penalty should have been the end of it. That may have been the turning point because we seemed to use the space better and your No 13 had been having a cracking game. All in all a superb game and we'll see you guys next time for part two.

I hope either us Leigh or Fax draw them in the Challenge Cup when it comes round and dump them out...I would rather watch paint dry than Widnes. And to add to that I don,t care how big their crowds are or how nice the boggs are,I would rather, and do, stand in the pixxing rain and mud and watch a good competitive game at any level than the carp thats played at the bottom of S/L.

Fantastic game that had just about everything and is typical of Fax v Fev encounters and long may it continue.
Well done to both teams and supporters.

What a fantastic effort from the boys. Cant remember anyone having a bad game. Just a few turning points that let the game slip away from us, Heaton dropping the ball 40 metres out which put Fev on the roll, Bowmans telegraphed pass which was awful and the major one was actually the sending off. Never seen two players sent off for handbags but Hicks is usally one to go over the top, remember the Greenwood sending off not so long back, unfortunatley that cost us more than it did Fev.

Really superb game and i thought although everyone played well i thought a few people stood out. Fieldhouse had a really solid game and i wasnt over impressed with him early doors but last couple of games he showing why people rate him. I thought Heaton apart from that mistake had a superb game for us. Our pack was immense, Gannon was superb, Manning looks to be a right signing and did Robinson play the full 80? He must be really fit especially given his size. Ashall just looks total quality. The rest didnt just make up the numbers either.

I wasnt too disappointed that we lost to be honest. it was a good game and i think losing will do us more favors in the long run than winning would have done. Winning might see us get complacent but losing should just make us start to believe we can compete and hopefully just make us want it even more and be pretty hungry for the season ahead. Bring it on.

We nearly beat fev at their own game. Structured, safe, and taking our chances when they aame. Good to see Harrison has got the team working towards a plan, much more comforting than the headless chicken approach that calland used to deploy, relying on individual brilliance rather a team effort. Lots to look forward to. Would rather that kind of defeat happens now, and we learn from it than later on the season.

Agreed. Whilst Micky H was playing ok, Ashall was playing out of his skin. His absence was the greater void and in the end, IMO, made a difference perhaps between getting something more than a bonus point out of the game.
Hicksy??? Never been a fan. I thought we'd got rid of him to SL?

People say we was missing our big names. Well the likes of barlow, aizue, pattetson, divorty are really going to have to work hard as the guys that have stepped up dont deserve to be dropped and have set the standard required to play for Fax. What a great capture Ashall is alongside Fieldhouse. Keep the standards high no slacking off against London.

Agreed. It is mentioned on this thread that having the injured players back = beating fev! (and I use that as the benchmark set by fax fans on here, not some statement of defense)! eusa_angel.gif
I'm not sure it's as simplistic as that. That hypothesis makes an assumption that the returning players will play better than those who took to the field yesterday, which I think sells those players short. The fax players punched well above their weight yesterday and in my limited opinion, those injured players wouldn't have delivered that much more!
The big problem is keeping those players happy when they will inevitably stand back down to the 23's. They did themselves and their club no harm at all yesterday.

I agree with that which means there will be plenty of competion for places .
Consistency is the key, clearly the lads were up for yesterdays game with it being Fev where motivation was never going to be a problem.
Fax need to do it week in week out just like Fev have done over the last couple of years.
I think KH's experience will be priceless in this aspect of the game.
To play that well against the side who have been the best in the comp is all well and good but it needs to be backed up, i'm sure it will be and there should be some cracking games ahead.

Quite simply a brilliant game of RL. Who said it would be dull under KH? Can't agree with RFF saying our lads punched above their weight though.

I think it was a fair assessment(so far). Playing against the best team in the league and we have a few players that are untried and unproven at this level and they went really well. By the end of the season i think most of them will be well known in this league.

Dont forget the headless chicken approach from Calland won you a grand final and got you to another 2 finals. Gained my respect did Calland when he coached you to beat us in the final the other year against all the odds. Harrison has added something to your game though, time will tell if he can match Callands achievments

cracking game! will be tough to beat that excitement again this year. not too dissapointed at the loss, the boys out there yesterday proved that they can more than hold their own against the 'best' team in the league. we won the game twice in the last five minutes......all the players from both teams can hold their heads up high.

when we get all our squad fit Rhino is gonna have some very tough decisions to make!

up the Fax! lets now go and smash London!

Fieldhouse superb!!! Ashall - buy of the season! Manning is a machine!
