Quote: terry silver "If conor was to play week in week out to the standard he did on sunday then it is a shame he is calling it a day. But he as to do what is best for him and the club if he cant commit to our schedule training wise. Scott grix is also calling it a day at the end of the season. I don't doubt about is influence off the pitch with is professional approach. And he as got as much out of himself playing wise as he could of hoped for over a long career. But for me the club made a mistake in signing him on a permanent deal after seeing how he played when on loan to us they should of left it there.'"

Mightily relieved to see them both go to be honest..

Im not going to lie I am leaning towards this too. Mcgrath has done well for us as a squad player but despite him been here a while now and us playing a lot of different wingers in that time he has always been 3rd choice. If he ends up signing for a League 1 team then Im sure he will do well and get a decent amount of tries. To be fair its a while since we had a winger with real start quality, Salty is good and solid but he's not going to get the crowd on their feet that often. A very good championship player but again not top 2 star quality like we will be getting with Walmsley.

As for Grix he has had a fantastic career and you do not get to play that many games by chance so he has done really well there. Unfortunatley for us it has been clear the last couple of seasons he has been looking after himself during games which was especially noticable when he were at fullback and you go away from a back 3 to make the hard yards to a back 2. I think he is doing the right thing and I do wish him the best whatever he does from here but I think we will be a better team for it next season with a completley different half back set up.

McGrath had a real opportunity on Sunday from a rare break towards the North stand but failed to back himself and was stopped easily coming inside. As GFB says no quality or real pace and we need better.Zak has shown the level of improvement needed during the course of a season not five...

Yeah I really like McComb, I think he has done a great job for us this season wherever he has played. Tough, quick, and elusive is exactly what you want in a winger.

Not seen much of Tibbs but maybe he can become the rookie winger who comes good 2022..
See Walmsley is a goalkicker of note too-this would be some coup..
just need a few forwards like his namesake now....!

And now rawsthorne is calling it a day at the end of the season. What i find odd is simon saying in is interview that this decision as come out of the blue as with the mcgrath one. This as been common knowledge amongst the fans i talk to on match day for some time.

Mmm, Rawsthorne? No great loss there, he must be one of the most disappointing signings of recent times. icon_rolleyes.gif

Think a few might be surprised by the 'tubby' ginger who will be competing with jouffret and keyes for a halves position. Robinson and Harris off.

Feel sorry for Jones as without the injuries think he would have made a really good forward. If the rumours about incoming halves are correct I doubt we'd be able to afford to keep either Robinson or Harris - would be particularly disappointed to see Robinson leave as I think with the right partner he's a very good half at this level. That said if all the rumoured signings come to pass don't think there will be many not already excited about the make up of the team for next year.

Steady player at this level and as we have seen this year its a good idea to have 3 half backs as things never seem to go as planned.

Everything looks really promising for next year especially given the players we are now getting rid of, some of these lads would have been on next to nothing and it would have been easy for the club just to keep hold on to them so given what our starting lineup is already looking like next year it seems the team is going to have a big step up in quality next year. It sounds like everyone already knows most of the signings although theres still a couple of surprises yet but its going to be interesting to see which players are now brought in to pad the squad out or whether we go down the loan route again.

So not only do we have the club keeping us in the dark supporters are at it as well. icon_confused.gif
