| Quote: Bubba "I dont think its fair to say most of the posts on theshaymen.net are mostly anti-fax. I think most Town fans know that both clubs need to work together.
I do think some are still deeply unhappy with how Fax have behaved since moving to the Shay though - including the supporters. I remember the abuse I got on here when Tony Abbott was trying to buy the Shay. My home address was posted on this forum all because I felt private ownership of the stadium was a risk to both clubs (and still do). And I hate to say it, but I was proven right with what went on to happen with TA businesses.'"
MOST are bitter. Especially Clive 'Hoddie' Anderson

| I reckon the reality is that you maybe only have a real minority from both sides who are bothered. The rest are just happy to turn up to watch their team, I know a lot of my friends really don't give a stuff and they will either go watch the team wherever they play or if they didn't exist would just go and find something else to do on a Sunday afternoon. I blame the sport for that but it is what it is.

| The Shay has been an ongoing saga for many many years. The stop/start redevelopment hasn't helped and the story of the Skircoat Road stand getting rebuilt with a hotel as part of the construction is as old as the Odsal Superdome proposal, and no further on.
The council's suggestion that disposing of The Shay will save them £161k p.a. suggests that there is a deficit to make up that whoever takes on the stadium would have to cover. We all know that councils are terrible at running things commercially so that would probably be reduced with some proper management, but could it be completely turned around? That's another question.
Ultimately, we're a part time side, with limited funding, most of which goes into the first team. Taking on the stadium would be a huge shift in business strategy, we're likely better placed than in the past, but there would be a lot of work involved and the returns wouldn't be great in the short term.
I don't know the ins and outs of FCHT, but they seem to have been steady away in the National League for a number of years now, again it would be a huge business change if they were to take the stadium on.

He has no respect for the supporters of FCHT, nevermind Halifax Panthers.

Black Backgrounds/Animal.gif My Humble Opinion Only - let the knockers begin.

| Whilst the Council ‘stressed’ they would not sell to the highest bidder, they made a lot of hot air saying nothing positive moving forward. The end of the Financial year is only a couple of months away, realistically no concrete decisions can be put in place so it will drag on as before.
imo

| To be fair the lady from the council who responded to the question relating to the Shay spoke coherently, and in my opinion fairly - would prefer for the ground to be taken over jointly by the 2 clubs, which should in the long term benefit both, both financially and security of tenure. Unfortunately the practicalities of getting the 2 boards to work together on the purchase, and perhaps even more challenging the ongoing running of the ground doesn't make me feel too optimistic.
