| Quote: The Lucky Black Cat "Jeez we are a Part time team that has one of the smallest budgets in the Championship that has passed all expectations and made the top 4. Of course we are not good enough against FT teams! We were also missing some key players and down to the bones in certain positions. Also this is hardly the squad that RM has wanted. Some players are clearly not up to the level required. RM and his coaching staff know this and will be no doubt looking to bring in better players if they can. The team has done brilliantly and even if they have been found out a bit in the 8s have given there all. But Leigh have struggled for much of the 8s and were favs for the 5th position. I know the club have held some talks for players for next season and I am sure RM knows we need more strength in depth and more pace. But I dont see the point of being so negative after such a positive season especially after what we have had to put up with when KH was coach!'"
I did say what I was about to say wouldn't be popular and they do say the truth hurts, I agree both Fax as a team and RM have done well this season achieving what most thought impossible , getting to the 8's and I applaud them however we have been shown we are not up to Bottom of the SL ,as even Sheff beat us.
Our centres are both slow and overweight , Leigh have put Sheff to the sword today , I was hoping we could beat Leigh next week , now it looks unlikely .
There's not much wrong with our pack and Muzza leads from the front , however we lack pace on the outside as Salford made us look like running in Diving boots at times, I was criticised for saying we MUST go full time next season , but yesterday's game proved me right, our fitness was lacking, another poster said when we equalised there was nothing in it , which is true but that was early in the game, I hope Brierley doesn't give us the runaround next week, and we have to go to Odsal yet.
Still I will be there cheering the lads on, bring on the Lankies next week.

| Tyrer overweight? I did chuckle. Maybe that could have been suggested a couple of seasons back but this season, nah. He has bee superb for us along with Heaton. Maybe there are better centres in the league but those two are both up amongst the best.

He did and he has got better and better for us with more game time. I really hope he decides to stay next year because he can be a top forward in this league and then push to get back to SL again. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards before you can go two steps forward and I hope Fairbank sees that because he has the talent.

I know everyone is disappointed how it has gone so far but realistically we were never going to be up to the standard of the bottom of SL over a series of games. To compete against Widnes, Hull Kr and now Salford for long periods of the games is an achievement in itself and with a few better decisions and maybe a bit of luck we could have won maybe every one of those games, but that is what that extra money buys you.
We are bound to lack pace out wide with no first choice wingers playing and I think Heaton can be excused for getting caught out because he is never a winger but was making one in for the team. Personally I do not think we were lacking anything in terms of fitness and when we got back within 6 in the 2nd half we looked to be on top but then a missed tackle from a lad who hasnt played all year cost us badly. Again that can be excused as to play your first game back from injury against a SL team is going to be tough.

Why? Sheffield were beaten by a large scoreline at Bradford - the following week Bradford lost heavily at Wakefield.
Sheffield were beaten by a large scoreline at Widnes. The following week Widnes lost at home less than a week before the HKR LCC Final.
I would think the time RM spent at Warrington would give him knowledge on how to nullify the threat caused by Higham and with home advantage and a competent performance from the appointed referee 'Fax have a very good chance.
Hull KR have been consistent;the same cannot be said of other sides in The Qualifiers.

| I agree with all thats been said so far. We have overacheived this season and should be really proud. We need to remember our expectations pre season which have been exceeded.
However, having seen the highlights from Saturday, there was a few tries conceded which we should be dissapointed with regardless of opposition, I think thats the point being made?

For me, that's been the problem for you, Bradford, Sheffield and Leigh, GFB. We've all been playing to a high level in the Championship, but it's been one heck of a step up to meet four reasonable SL teams. We have only been able to play 'what's in front of us' week in, week out, in the Championship. Our players are, in the main, Championship standard players, albeit mostly the best at that level. I'm sure if any of us made it to SL - a huge ask, but not completely impossible, in this format - we would have to see an influx of new, SL-standard players, to be able to compete.
I think all four of us can hold our heads up high, at how we have performed so far - and celebrate Bradford's achievement in turning over Salford.

The more teams that go full time in this league will improve the league and narrow the gap between us and SL. If we have more full time teams the weekly competition becomes hard and more intense which is what we need when we are playing SL teams. Although Bradford and Leigh are full time the rest of our comp isn't so although they are good the don't get to play at the intensity of SL full timers. Sheffield go FT next season and us in 2017 (Hopefully). This will improve the Championship comp. I know its about money but if we could get around 8 to 10 teams playing FT in this comp we will then be able to give SL a run for their money.
