Loving the hypocrisy of some.: |

| I know the truth hurts sometimes but I can only report on what I saw and heard at the Shay. Obviously I cannot comment on whatever happened in the town centre though apparently it was the usual Halifax Town numpties involved who like to give the club a bad name.

| To be fair most clubs in both rugby and football has some idiots who spoil it for the majority. I don't think neither Fax or the Shaymen can take any moral high ground on this one. I have seen violence at both the Town's (semi) professional teams games and it really does leave a disturbing taste both personally and also for the credibility of that club and its fans. No winners in this debate in my eyes.

Quite right, however no fights have taken part in Halifax Town centre after a Fax game.
No mounted police are in Halifax before or after a Fax game.
The rugby World Cup came to town, possibly a similar crowd as last Sunday, no arrests, no fighting in Halifax Town centre,
When the Bulls come to town this year, no police on horses, no fighting in the town centre.
When FEV come to town, bad blood? no police on horses, etc etc.
It's a football thing,
Incidentally, Unless my head is buried in the sand I have never seen violence at a Fax game,

| Agree HJ re the amount of policing being weighted toward the football but am afraid we (Fax) have had our moments of trouble(that I have witnessed) at Fax games -home and away-Fev in the 70's; both Hull clubs and Widnes in the 80's;and more recently Batley fans after a home game at the Shay and Fev away!Like I said no winners on this one.

You joking right?
Try trouble at Town games at Chester, Lancaster and Corby plus in the past at home to Hartlepool, Huddersfield and Rochdale (not all by Town fans by the way) and loads of police on Sunday and at many football games whilst none at rugby games. The games you mention for Fax games are rare hence why RL has a good reputation for being non violent.
It is a football thing, would you dare to wear your colours at say a Bradford City v Huddersfield or Leeds game as an away fan???

Black Backgrounds/Animal.gif My Humble Opinion Only - let the knockers begin.

| I seem to remember a saying in my long ago youth about :
Rugby ' The violence is kept on the field.'
Association Football 'A gentleman's game played by thugs'
No doubt this will cause some angst with the round ballers who read this forum. Sometimes the truth stings a little.

| You always get one or two idiots, but the Pubteam have a number of fans that seem to love causing Problems. This is not a one off incident neither. Lancaster, Corby, Chester, Milton Keynes etc have all seen incidents. And how many Town fan fans have received Stadium bans in the past 2 years for example? As you can see by the attitude of Bubba the Grub and friends that a number of the Soccer fans are more interested in creating Problems for others- whether it be making up lies and causing tensions with Fax or by fighting, throwing Missiles etc -than following their Team/Sport. Shame as there are some decent Soccer fans that follow the Pubteam that dont deserve this.

| Mr. Bubba if your going to para quote please use the whole quote and not ignore the part that really states the point.
Also it could be said ' Let he without sin cast the first stone', yes 'Fax fans have had their moments in the past, but few and far apart, and to the best of my humble knowledge it was policed and the appropriate measures meted out by, and within the club.

| I went to the match on sunday & had a great day out. Cracking atmosphere, plenty of goal-scoring chances & the result in doubt until the final whistle, credit to Town for living with a City side who've had some decent cup history in recent times.
I wouldn't be too quick to blame locals for the trouble after the game unless you were around. I saw a few visitors goading home fans outside a pub both before & after the game. We actually got put under "lockdown" according to the door staff where i was drinking as the trouble ensued next door and from the reports we heard it was visitors who instigated it with random acts of thuggery but they apparently met their match eventually. Some of the comments actually came from the police that we spoke to who drifted in & out of pubs after the incidents. These are the same group of well-known clowns that turned the Old Cock pub over around 6 weeks ago with a nothing to do with football incident, allegedly.
It didn't mar my day out, but we don't want that sort of behaviour anywhere, let alone at sports events.
I feel the football club are really on the up & if they can get promotion back to the football league, i'm sure their crowds would be greater than the RL club on an average basis. Exciting times for them, i hope our rugby team can start challenging again for big fixtures.
