Having perused the new proposals in today's trade press i'm a little flumoxed. 1st half of a 12 team season you play each team once, so that's 11 fixtures, that's gotta be either six home or six away fixtures prior to 3 x leagues of 8 teams for the second part of the league season which segues into the play-offs which would equate to seven fixtures so the same theory applies to the number of home & away fixtures. Bradford, Wigan, Saints, Catalans, Leeds & Hull to get six home fixtures nailed on....

Of course, my maths was always rubbish so i'm open to ridicule on this one !

Proposals say that the top tier salary is £1.2 million and the next tier salary is £180k.
That's gonna mean when the leagues split mid-season, there will be a huge difference in playing budgets between teams in the newly combined middle tier.

Those figures equate to the Sky money, not the cap. Or have I read it wrong? If its the cap then what is the point? Why stop an "investor" ploughing money into a Championship club?

I thought i'd read a quote saying something like "approximately double the current £180K"

That's how I read it as well. So a further £180k to spend on wages/back office staff. The clubs in SL2 should be allowed if they want to or have the means to spend full cap for this to work. I like the idea.

The difference in funding is still too great but that is not suprising as the SL clubs will not vote for anything that sees them lose money.

This difference will become apparrent when the bottom SL 1 clubs and the top SL 2 clubs form the 8 league.

There may be the odd suprise but over the 14 games it will be a tough ask for the SL 2 clubs to be able to compete being largely part time with there new fulltime opponents and being at such massive finacial disadvantage.

I think another consideration should be starting the season a little later to avoid as much as possible games being affected by the weather.

A number of the current SL sides have better grounds where games have more chance of going ahead, it could cause a major fixture headache if the new SL 2 sides from the current championship get out of sync with the SL 1 sides.

Additionally it would be more supporter friendly if we weren't freezing our buts off, afterall it's supposed to be summer rugby.

Well Stevo and crew need to look at themselves.

Has he any idea of how many individuals think he talks out of his bottom.

Andrew Duneman for one used to watch the televised games with the volume turned down because of his nonesense.

Of course not but their greed is well noted.

Thing is - he's commenting on the "now" status. And right now people from Halifax don't even want to watch Halifax RLFC. Our attendances are appalling and we don't seem to be able to address it. Widnes regularly got 3-4,000 and they were downright crap. Castleford got 5,000 when not in SL. We can shove Stevo's words down his throat - when we can get the required number through the turnstiles.

I am not convinced Stevo was talking about our attendance figures when he said "The likes of Halifax."

Even if he was it does not only apply to Fax, crowds are down across the board.
Castleford were beating everyone in sight and were on their way back to SL.
Widnes knew they had to tick the "Win" something box (Blacky, if only you had not dropped that ball) and they were back in, not so for the rest of us.

If we were getting 10,000 per game it would not improve the quality of his comments.

No real surprise here regarding Stevo and his beloved franchise system. Bit disrespecful though to Fax as regards teams not wanting to come to us.He is clearly still stuck in the dark ages and is clearly blinkered to the Sky/Super League paymasters. He seems to forget he came from a heartland club that enabled his career get to international level and play in Oz etc. long before Wolves;Bulls and Rhinos Clear to me he is no longer an ambassador for our great game and has far too much to say for himself on a topic he is totally prejudiced on. What goes around comes around! Bring back P&R no matter who gets promoted from our league(would be poetic justice if it was Fax)-that's what sport is all about and perhaps then some of the want away fans will start to come back?

Stevo knows who pays his wages and generally offers up the corporate position. If you speak to him "off the record" he may sometimes offers slightly different opinions.
