Amen to that. we've had away wins at Sheffield and York so far which if I recall correctly both grounds we lost at last season. It's going to be a good seaon.

| Quote: heathen55 "A proper game of rugby fought out by 2 evenly matched teams. Not a points fest but then it was never likely to be. Keighley played the referee well and yes they did lie on the tackle with the 3rd man concentrating on turning the ball carrier onto his back but fair play to them it nearly worked.
thought Fieldhouse was outstanding under the high ball'"
I thought Fieldhouse was amazing how many bombs did he field and never dropped one, in those conditions under the lights as well that was a terrific effort and crucial as in such a tight game giving away field position was crucial.
Keighley are solid and tackled very well, they do rely on slow play the ball and I am not sure it will work all season for them they need more in attack although we also have a solid defence, they will do well though.
Our kicking game was poor BUT it was the right thing to do by Handforth pushing them back time after time they never looked like scoring in the second half really.
Decent crowd, not sure how many ame over from Keighley I thought there might be a few more but it was a decent turn out all the same by the sound of it. Good luck to them, we can play better though too much one man stuff last night, we went away from the good stuff we did at Sheffield.
I am surprised how erratic we are as I thought under Rhino we would be more consitant but hey we are top of the league and have played two good teams in Keighley and Sheffield.

| Both defenses did well, both coaches wont be happy with the kicking games i expect, and while it wasn't a classic, it was interesting and great to see the reactions of Ashall and Handforth on the whistle, I was quite impressed with the way Thacks, Ashall, Penky and co stepped up in the final quarter, getting us chances down the other end and the pack played sensible patient RL to close out the game.
Mr Bloem needs to tighten up on play the balls, lying on, slowing down (both sides) and probably was a bit inconsistent on how far back he was taking the defensive lines, he did ok though, i think he just needs a couple of tweaks and hell be fine as ref.
All in all im chuffed the way our lads have off days but grind out wins, its a great asset to have.

| Quote: Stealth Comic "We gave you a hell of a game tonight. Came home delighted with the performance even though we lost so narrowly. I thought the ref let an awful lot go tonight. We were laying on a lot, but I thought Fax were guilty of not being square at the markers a lot. I'd rather have it that way though than have a really awful pedantic ref like Ronnie Laughton in charge.
As a footnote, [sizedidn't Jamie Bloem once play for you guys? Not sure it's particularly clever for the RFL to pick match officials who's previously played for one of the clubs involved[/size. No sour grapes on my part, I don't think it affected the result in anyway.'"
No disrespect intended but rather a silly comment. Perhaps you were the one who also said it on leaving the East Stand last night. Yes he did play for us and Castleford and Huddersfield and Widnes, he also played for South Africa and Scotland. He is also a personal friend of Brian Smith at Warrington and Brian Mcdermott at Leeds. Now, if he realises his ambition to referee in Super League, by your estimation that's quite a lot of games he will have to miss. Having also played in France that probably means he can't referee Catalans. Incidentaly he has a very attractive blonde wife but this didn't disqualify him from referreing the Nordic Cup between Norway and Sweden.
Hopefully he will be playing today for Stainland Staggs against Halifax Irish. He should try and win this as he has no Irish connection. O'h blast, he likes Guiness.
Just because he spotted that knock on late in the game?

| I actually enjoyed last nights game! And I agree with earlier comments that keighley matched us all night, credit to them they had tactics and they almost worked. I'm sure against other teams if they defend like they did against us, and with the likes of Jones and Obst going forward they will definately make the play offs. I think a draw would have been a fair result. But well done to fax and 4 wins out of 4 sitting at the top our confidence can only get better and we know how well we can play.

Your right and I also forgot Doncaster. That makes two more.
I would also add that Jamie is a good friend to the club but, I doubt he would let any allegiances get in the way of his officiating ambitions.
On second thought, I think he would send of Lee Briers simply for tying up his boots incorrectly.

Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

Ahh, but is she [ireally[/i blonde and is "referring" in Scandinavia similar to [irefereeing[/i over here.
Good points though to be honest.
Good tough game without it ever getting out of hand. Far prefer games like this to scoot-athons
As for some of the claims of "Laying on", I've seen a lot worse and it was the same for both sides. You seemed fairly good at slowing the game down yourselves at times in the first half
Nice stadium, when is the "bit in the corner" going to be finished?

| I normally go through 4 cigs during a match. Last night i got through 11. That's how tense and thrilling it was.
Champions win somes games "ugly" throughout the season. This could be one of them for Fax in 2012. Top o' t'league!!!!

spot on there!
The teams that eventually end up challenging for honours in any sport win games when they are not at their best.
last night we did exactly that.
we were abit off, the weather didnt help, and fair play to Keighley they seem to have got a great defence.

| A lot of people are mentioning our kicking game being poor, but Rhino commented afterwards that it was 'magnificent'.
Perhaps people only think a kick as being good if it goes between or behind defences? There's no doubt it was the kicks that kept Keighley pinned in their own half for most of the second half and in that case seems to have done what was required, and the chases were certainly effective, especially when Tadulala was running them out - he looked threatening every time.

I was in the South Stand last night so that wouldn't have been me.
All I ask is that would you have been perfectly happy if the situation had been the other way around and it was a former Keighley player who'd been one of the officials?
I actually think he's a good ref, having seen him referee our game down in Toulouse in the NRC this season and I don't think he affected the outcome of the game. But let's be honest, if he used to play for Halifax and he still turns out for an amateur team in the Halifax area it's not exactly what you'd call a neutral official is it? Especially for a derby game.

I do get your point of view but its like to old agument of referees being aloud to referee games involving their home town club I do not agree with it but it happens.
