You just do not get the arrogance thing do you?
From a fans point of view i totally understand where you are coming from Distantdog, once its in your blood then it doesn't matter, you will always support them.
But from a players point of view.....
Why would they want to go to a club who have better facilities, More money to offer ( higher salary cap ) with a coach who has proven himself with that player already, where the pitch is level and one envied by superleague clubs ( well done groundsmen, it was commented on by sky every game they showed this year ) where they play with better players ( although not performed as so most of this year ) where they will be put in the shop window on t.v more, ( been on sky 9 times this year so far ) and the team have been in at least one final in the last 3 years. ( 2009 Grandfinalists & Northern rail 9's Winners, 2010 Grand Finalists and Champions, 2011 Northern Rail Finalists and at least last 4 in playoffs ).
Lets not argue about it though, its not arrogance, the club have proven time and time again that the CLUB achieves more than Batley, However it doesn't make us any better a club to support than any of the others and if you get the attendances up to 2000 per week i am sure the money made would have significant impacts on your club and what you are able to achieve with it, Like most of us Championship clubs finding extra fans is like looking for a 4 leaf clover, neigh on imposible with the current regime in charge.

Yes but the players arn't saying anything nor are the clubs, just a few supporters of Fax.

Of course it matters if it is mentioned that some of your best players are leaving to go to a rival club.
If the "fans point of view is understood" then is should be easy to see why I said "no wonder some feel we are being arrogant."
Still only my view again which means nowt.

Of course it means "owt", but I don't think it is arrogant to speculate about players wanting to come to Halifax.
Karl must like those players, they must enjoy playing for him.
It's only natural that if he goes and asks then to follow they will.
How many Managers in all sports move on and then go back to their old clubs for players.
Surely the players who may follow Karl, think, if he thinks it's the right move, then it might the right move for me.
Non of us have any disrespect for Batley.

| I would have thought if the Kear appointment does come off a few players who may have considered leaving may think again. Love him or loath him he has won Challenge cups, coached at the highest level for 300games and kept a weak club off the bottom of super league year after year. The players mentioned on here will be close to Rhino but they also feel part of a family at the mount(Tiger has talked of this many times over the last 2 years). We have lost a successful high profile coach and may have replaced him with a more high profile coach with proven track record! You may find it is Fax who are losing their top names to Batley!! Better to be a big fish in a small pond and get paid regularly, when agreed!!!

Hey dont get me wrong, i enjoy my trips to batley, and i respect batley as a club and their fans. me expecting players to follow KH to fax has nothing to do with arrogance.
i look at it from a players point of view.
if i was lets say ash Lindsay, and rhino rang me up, offering me a more lucrative contract at fax, (remember a club that has had more sucess over recent years, and has better facilities) i would as a player take the promotion.
more money - better work environment- more chance of further promotion = obvious choice.
i dont for one minute see halifax as a 'better' club than batley.........just at the minute a better option for semi pro RL players.

"paid regularly, when agreed" as in "I get paid monthly, on the 21st of the month.
This whole thread is based on rumours. The rumours last season, from a few Fax fans and RL fans elsewhere were that if you didnt win the GF prizemoney you would be in the s**t. Rumours at the game on Thursday were that some of your players hadnt been paid for a fair few weeks, all rumours mind, could be complete untruths. Tiger came to us from Donny where he wasnt getting paid regularly and he often states how happy he has been at Batley. Rettie has said how happy he is at Batley etc etc
Over the years Halifax have had more sucess than Batley but we are talking next season here. Can any of you deny that if the lads mentioned on here stay at Batley and our new coach adds 3 or 4 good quality signings then there is a chance Batley will be more sucessful than Fax next year? There isnt much between us now so unless they are unhappy why change?

Had we not potentially signed such a high profile coach I would agree with you that they would follow karl if he asked them, but I really feell JK will make them think twice. If they leave they will leave with my best wishes for the future as Karl does and Batley will sign new players and will again be a force in the CC next season. good luck in the playoffs!

Don't get me wrong as I like Batley as a club. Great RL town with a proud history. However I do think that saying Batley are a force is a little over stated. Knocked out of NRC early, no real run in Challenge Cup and out of the play offs at 1st attempt. Not really a force. Granted beat us twice in league but we were very poor this season, yet still managed a NRC Final and possibly 2 games away from a 3rd on the bounce GF. if I were Batley I'd be excited about what is to come but if JK does come BUT he has no experience of coaching at thus level, will have a vastly reduced budget and no get out of jail card in the form of a millionaire owner. Karl is well versed in Championship rugby and has built a very tight squad on a small budget, no mean feat. JK will have expectation on his shoulders to improve next season but I'm not sure he will. I for one think KH is a major loss to Batley no matter who comes in to replace him. Players look to what they know and this will attract players through loyalty to follow KH. Believe it or not but the draw of the shay and it's playing surface also has a bearing you may not think about.
Also whilst I'm here please leave off the Cr@p regarding non payment of players you spout. Not true at all so leave off the rubbish mate. Poor thing to say that and utter tosh.

There are a number of posters here who are giving the impression that a contract offer from Fax is impossible to decline, Its your forum and I wouldnt expect anything else. But im just trying to point out how some view your club elsewhere. There have been a number of cokc ups over the last few years be various people at the club, the latest being a crapp SL application and we dont all regard Fax as big a club as the Fax fans do(I do regard you as a bigger club than Batley before I get shot down). I am in no doubt the KH will be a big draw for players but I dont think things will be as clear cut as is being made out on here. so far we have had six our our squad named as nailed on for Fax, If you sign them all then you too may have a poor run in the Challenge Cup and get kocked out NR cub and playoffs at the first stage!!
