Quote: Leon Ashton "Sorry but i don't think we are ready at all, mid table in the championship and barely got a functioning youth set up. Other than the stadium Cas are streets ahead with some very promising youngsters and one of the hottest properties in SL in Chase. IF anyone is to get booted out it should be Wakefield.'"
Cas are ahead on support yes but not on stadium, we have a better facility now.
Their new stadium still relies on planning decisions and they are assuming that a supermarket will be allowed at their existing ground which from my experience is not certain at all, plus the finances I still have my doubts as people do not just build you a stadium for nowt no way!
The youth argument gets me annoyed, how can we or any other club outside SL (Widnes apart but they have their money man backing them) afford a youth set up plus I believe we would not be allowed to have an U18 team etc.. being from outside SL. We struggle to raise the cash for an U23 - hence the Faxbuilder Fund! Not a level playing field so please do not compare our set up to Cas, if we were in SL we would have a youths set up as good as theirs fact!
I have always doubted the RFL would have the bottle to throw a SL team out no matter what, they would be open to a legal challenge and be embarrssed by the bad press, I fear we will be kept out THIS TIME. But come the failure of the Crusaders or harlequins as they are bound to go bust again sometime soon on those crwods then we need to be ready so keep the faith folks and keep positive.
