| That particular corner has always been a problem. You'd have thought they would have done something about it by now.

| Haven will lose out on money if it's rearranged midweek or might never get played depending on weather and places after next week. It would pay for them to get it sorted and switch off the hosepipe.

Seedsy's corner eh, is that where he learned to take a dive ?

| Ive seen a photo before now of a player diving into that corner to score a try, diving into a pool of water, it was probably David Seeds' hoping to score a 10 10 10 for his moves, but thats another story.
Ive also seen photos of the entire pitch under water, which would make the game unplayable, I also remember Haven kicking the ball into the "In goal zone" and it stopping in standing water and a haven player running past it, this can cause the course of the game to change, while it is down to the conditions, is it fair?
I do think though that Haven have lost out on much needed income from a good travelling Halifax Support, would hiring a pump to remove water from that corner before/throughout the match have that much impact on otherwise healthy gate receipts?

Good point a pump may have worked plus they should get it sorted, been like this for years now.
I was one of the few that went up to the Kells game their in the CC and we scored in that corner when a kick landed in the snow and melt water and we touched it down.
We went up yesterday and it had been dry all day and a lot warmer than down here with no sign of any snow either!
But those who had gone up Friday said it threw it down on overnight.
It was a quite sunny up there today and I bet it had dried out by 3pm, it certainly looked dry when we drove past around 6pm tonight!
Looks like this game may be a dead rubber as they cannot qualify if they lose at Oldham next week and we will have already if we beat Batley next Sunday.
Its their loss, amateur bunch at Haven.

| I seem to remember a thurs eve game on sky versus Widnes (last season or 2 seasons ago) going ahead and the rec pitch was in a much worse condition!! IIRC it was as bad as that in that particular corner last season when we played them but it was played! They got the fire brigade to pump it away before too!! Poor show this from the Marras if you ask me!! Calling it off 40 mins before the coaches were due to set off!!!

| Well it saved me some money at least as a poor student. Shame though, look forward to a big crowd at the Shay next week, however, should be a good game.

Id rather them call it off 40 mins before the coaches set off than 40 minutes after

| there has been a pump there for the last 3 weeks and doing its job keeping water from the corner, the problem wasn't water on the surface, it was a collapsed drain meaning the water was underneath and not getting away .When inspected by the local ref (steve nicholson)at 9.00am, the mud was above his ankles in that corner and he deemed it too dangerous for the players

| Don't see what the fuss is. These things just happen. Whitehaven wouldn't not want the game to go ahead and would have tried their best to get it on and they made sure the ref called it off being the Away support had set off as well (minus the overnighters).
Some posts make it sound like it's all one big conspiracy theory.
