I have little interest in football personally, But i do watch the national team, as well as Other "top level" matches, Champions League, Internationals, Some Premiership matches,

England vs Germany is a fixture that 99% with a passing interest in football will want to watch, a bit like if Andy Murray reached the Wimbledon Final, that would draw a massive television audience, same when England won the ashes in 2005, a lot of people watched that as we had a chance of winning depsite having little interest in cricket.

Other clubs have seen that having a clash with the football could impact attendances so have moved, yet Dewsbury were very quick to confirm the 3pm kick off, and it looks like it hasnt been considered.

as a home and away die hard fax fan,i very rarely miss a game, im having problems deciding what to do on sunday.

i had a full day planned starting in ossett and heading towards dewsbury, but with this clash in fixtures and the what i think 'stupidity' that the rams will not rearrange the ko time.

how much money will they lose out on by regular supp orters not going to the rugby????!!

we normally would take anything up to 600-700 if the weathers nice....i predict half as many going if the fixture stays the same.

15*350 alot of coin that!

not to mention the dewsbury fans that will not attend.....a crowd of 1300 will be less than 800 in my opinion
dewsbury sort it out!!!!!!

It would be one of their biggest crowds of the season, if the weather stays good there'd be big takings in the bars ect, but its their accounts and they want to miss out on a good amount of revenue, who are we to judge.

I dont miss many games, and Ive never been to dewsbury and was looking forward to finally going, but seems it will have to wait.

The decision has already been made mate, if you are still out with us then we are going to the Rugby. Probably ring you tonight mate to arrange everything.

Not myopic and stubborn no, patronising, probably. Apathetic, definitely.

Fact is, rams will lose money as a result. It may be out of their hands, then ok. But if not, they are myopic as a business. It seems a pretty equal split on here of those who will and won't be going.

Enjoy the game on Sunday, and shout extra loud in absentia of those who decide not to go.

Fax Machine. The problem IS that quite a large proportion of them do have an interest in England playing Germany in the World Cup finals. Its not that they all prefer football to rugby, that has nowt to do with it,its that lots of sports followers get patriotic.Sam and Bob both aren't coming for that reason and Sam couldnt care less about the footie UNLESS its the World Cup and against Germany.
Isn't it funny how the other matches in our division have both been switched to 1 O'Clock kick offs.People are allowed to like other sports.I know you like your Motorbike racing.I have no real interest in football, but I do in this particular match.Call me all you want, but the Leigh,Keighley,Featherstone and Widnes folk seem to have prevailed to whats called common sense.
A bit mad for Rugby League I know.
At the end of the day its each to their own and realistically and unfortunately if the game goes ahead at 3 I reckon the attendance will be at least halved.

Quote: Jonnie.. "Die hard Rugby fans V a patriotic nation! (V Finance for RL clubs)

Not just for our game but for all sporting contents scheduled for Sunday afternoon. Whilst i am 100% sure there are some die hard fans who would support Halifax or their team if they were playing on the moon

There is a large number of Rugby fans who do follow the English national team at Football, the last 16 of the world cup a game the only has the opportunity to come around once every four years! And its against the Germans! Dewsbury away! mmmmmmmmmm

Common sense has to prevail, move the Dewsbury game, I had been strong armed in to a public engagement on Sunday at 3pm and begrudgingly had to agree to keep some piece, however, that’s out the window now.

So WHEN the game is re-arranged I will get the best of both worlds and watch both England and Fax'"

Now that Dewsbury have made the decision NOT to change the kick off time, what will your decison be?????? Once in four years last 16 of the World cup or Dewsbury away, where we will go year in year out????

Yes but at least the half that go to the game will be "real" RL supporters. icon_biggrin.gif

Anyway, each to his own I suppose. From my point of view, if England were playing Germany in the final AND it was being played at the bottom of the road AND I was given free tickets I still wouldn't go.

If I was offered an all expenses trip to South Africa for the game I'd still be at Dewsbury on Sunday.

The last two times I've been to Dewsbury I've been threatened by a drunk fan. So it's no great loss that I'll get to watch Germany v England on Sunday instead of Dewsbury v Halifax. It's a shame they can't move it as I always want to watch fax. However being interested in many sports means I have to mix and match. I don't miss many games, but this is one that i will be sacrificing on this occasion. At least I'll be able to watch Halifax in two weeks time against Whitehaven.

As a sponsor of the club it does make me laugh all of this talk of 'real' supporters. It's just total rubbish. The sport definitely wouldn't survive if it relied on people who solely were rugby league supporters. As people have many interests in different sports. You've made your choice and others will make theirs. Live with it.

Good luck Fax, hopefully we'll win and keep the pressure up at the top of the table.
