| Quote: pinballwizzard "you have to show an element of arrogance when you are on top. It was easy after 20 minutes. At then it got harder and fev soon shut us up.
But isn't that what sport is all about. .Highs and lows.
You got to enjoy success otherwise what's the point.
Should we be perpetually humble? Apologise for being better?
Not make a noise about the highs just because we are so au fait with the lows. When teams and fans rub your noses in it, it is annoying, but also galvanising.
Aussies are the perfect exponents of winning'"
So when we are being "arrogant" as you put it it's ok to throw missiles?? Don't think so . Do you. Seems your condoning these snotty nosed fans antics.

| no it doesn't.
But papal bull stinks.
I believe i was condoning the shouting of easy easy and enjoying our success, and you have taken it upon yourself to interpret that as condoning violence.
Truly vexing.

Where has he said he condones it He doesnt say, 'you've got to be a bit arrogant at the top...and the only way to do this is by throwing bottles left right and centre'. He may have meant 'you've got to be arrogant a bit at the top....and the only way to do that it to stand by the exit with flame throwers and burn all oppositing fans' if you wanna make up what someone says

Being arrogant does throw it open to idiots in the stand to take it the wrong way. By being aggressive to the point of throwing objects at opposition fans. Which in turn gets their back up and take it out on our fans stood close to them. Until these small minded "Scrotes" are rounded up and ejected it will carry on.

| aw thanks tommy. Sniff sniff.
Arrogance is c ronaldo, the australian cricket team, winners, with pomp and a swagger. Not for everyone.
Violence is violence.
That isn't out of context, thats completely losing the plot.

| Quote: paulifax "I was stood down the front at the side of the Fev fans and they were a good bunch, at 18-0 they were hoping it wasn't going to be 40 and I know how happy they were at winning in the end, I've been there myself but I was really disappointed with the 2 beered up nobs who were goading the Fev fans with the bus stop song from the front of the SS, I would have been quite happy to see them down the front after the game, reckon they'd have been taken down a peg or 2. Unfortunately there will only be more of those types as we become more successful, assuming we don't keep choking.'"
One of those 2 got recognised on the way out and shoved to the ground, he shiiiiite his sen and his m8 legged it.

| Quote: Greg Florimos Boots "Get a grip soft lad, either that or hope you dont go into SL or your son will never see a game. What happened at the end of the game was crap end of. We hung around until the 2 groups dispersed as it looked like the Fev fans were looking for trouble, couldnt blame them really though, not like it would be a fair fight, a group of grown men against some 12 year old teets. I remember going to places like Hull with my dad when i was young and never had an ounce of trouble because there is a lot more sensible people watch the games than there is idiots. It really is a shame if that is the way you feel.'"
Look m8 dont assume you are talking to some prude hear, i have followed Leeds Utd and England all over europe, i even got tear gassed in sardinia in 1990 world cup v holland, not big, not clever im older now. I actually loved the atmosphere Friday full of passion from both sets, it was like the old days watching Rovers. What sed me and the other off was the throwing its fkg out of order at a RL game they dont do it in soccer any more. I tell you there was some tough old ex-players in that Rovers crowd that dont want but wouldnt shirk away from a tear up, them little shiiiites were goading us all night, have they been doing that all season?
Cas are the same, the other year we were in the wheldon rd end and they showered us with urine from pint pots, all the fans ran at them swinging punches as anyone who had been showered in ss would, true to form they legged it loads of our fans got banged up and we were branded thugs, we arnt. I got told of a York fan they do that to most fans. I went on the train with some mates friday we got into Halifax at 2pm had a right day found some cheap pubs, had a sit down curry everyone was friendly. That is why i now watch Rugby not football, i dont want to be involved in any trouble but il be damded if im gonna just stand there while some little scrout throws stuff at me.

That is a good post and I have noticed an element of the crowd geting nastier for some time.It has upset me twice to watch it as they do not seem to bother about very small children geting drawn into it.
Although the stewards thankfully did seem to have a bit of a stratagy about them this week ,it seemed too little too late in my opinion.
What is needed is for the group to be watched throughout the match and as soon as one of them throws something then march him out of the ground . If any of the others carry on throwing stuff do the same again eventually they would get the message and it splits them up a bit.
They have been chucking things for some time now and nothing has been done about it which I believe has led to an escalation at the last two matches where small children have been scared witless.Anyone who condones that must be out of their tiny minds. What is the point of having someone read the "respect "thing out at every match warning people about bad behaviour if no-one gets anything done to them.
This will escalate further now because it was not nipped in the bud earlier in the season unless measures are taken. It`s ok someone on this thread taking the Mick about a Fev`s lad being scared well it wasn`t just the one child either I saw 2 who could have been no more than 5/6 scared witless and I am glad my own grandchildren did not see it .
Maybe the usual "respect message" that gets trotted out every week has become routine to everyone maybe somebody differant needs to take the mic` before the next home match and tell everyone the club will not stand any more from the small bunch of idiots that are giving the club a bad name and a repeat of it will mean they will be barred from the ground and jolly well do it.

Its a fine line really m8, most of the games in the championship and 1 are dead for an atmosphere, that was banging Friday i loved it, your fans singing at us got us going and singing back. I find anywhere there is a covered terrace and a team starts getting success you will get a load of youths gathering in a spot and singing getting an atmosphere going. Nothing wrong with that, but then what starts happening is when opposing fans are in the same stand ( as happens a lot with rl fans changing ends) the gang of singers who are mostly teenagers get an "our stand " mentality. Cas have it now with the Wheldon end well whenever Rovers play there it is seen as a challenge to go in there and give them some. The problem at the Shay now is with only the one terrace every game you share the same stand. most games nothing will happen then you will play a game like Friday where the oppositions fans will give them some back and all helll breaks loose, then what happens is when you play these teams again more home scroats turn up because they will get a reaction and more away fans to give them some back.I dont know what the answer is but a start would be somehow stop them throwing because most men even with kids wont mind being sang at and abused really they will laugh it off, its just that throwing shiiiite that will tip them over the edge

Some stewards all the game among the fans in the 'hot spot' is the answer, but with our stadium management that would be too obvious and involve making a decision.
Won't happen sadly.
