| From my geekish memory, they have NEVER beaten us in the Challenge Cup!
TBF - although it would have been better to draw a NL team, we can't ask for much more. It should be a big crowd, Cas generally don't fiddle with attendences so some money coming our way. Plus it's cup rugby, anyone can beat anyone!
I, for one are looking forward to going over the Cas, it's always a good atmosphere and even though they have improved dramatically over the last couple of years, we CAN beat them!

Interesting....so we should think ourselves lucky not to have drawn a less than honest club!!!

Good job we didnt draw catalans at home, they'd be entitled to a split of the gate reciepts despite the fact they wouldn't bring more than a dozen at best.

Agreed, Catalans would have been the worse draw possible.

| Not happy with the way the RFL made a right mess of the draw by not showing it live! And not to pleased with the draw. Cas will be very tough.

| Not the draw we wanted - lucky sods Gateshead.
At least its not Saints, Warrington, Catalans (for travelling), Wigan or Hull KR away which would have been worse.
Should be a good test for the lads and a decent crowd, maybe on TV as they tend not to have two teams on who have been on TV in round before (Saints v Catalans) so should be Wakey v Wigan and then maybe our game?
Who knows we have never lost to Cas in the Cup and nobody expected us to beat them the last two times we played them in the Cup either!
We cannot lose really (unless we get tonked 50+ which I doubt) as we get a pay day being Cas and we should take a few over so maybe a crowd of 7 or 8K being all pay.

| I think it should be a good game. Obviously cas will be strong favourites, but Hull KR showed a few years ago that a well drilled team (all be it full-time) can cause the odd shock when a team is underestimated.
I'm hoping for a good performance even if we don't get the result. Lets show them what halifax has to offer these days.

My predictions only Fev/Wire has potential to cause an upset'"
I go with those but not sure Fev can do anything against Warrington, I think the Wakey v Wigan is the closest to call, ours COULD be close if we have the same defence as in the Widnes games.

| Not the best draw, and certainly not the worst.
Will be a good pay day and, as has already been mentioned, we have never lost to them in the CC.
Should take a good number across and make a decent contest of it on the field.
Bring 'em on!

| Don't think it's that bad a draw. Maybe we could have drawn a National League side but it would only have been delaying the inevitable.
Cas away will be a good game and a money spinner. And who knows...

Cas will break that defence, we need to keep them off our line. and not give away repeat sets of 6 like we did vs Widnes.
There's other teams in our division who, given that many play the balls on our try line would scoe more points than Widnes did, Its important not to let them get there in the first place.

| Quote: "Oldham are today awaiting news of the RFL’s draw for the fifth round of the Carnegie Challenge Cup, which is being made this afternoon at RAF Leeming in North Yorkshire.
But chief executive Chris Hamilton is not happy about the fact that club officials were not informed as to the arrangements.
“We wouldn’t even have known anything about when and where the draw was taking place if we hadn’t seen a story about it on the RFL website,” said Mr Hamilton.
“We are not sure either when and where the draw will be announced. We have been told to check on the RFL website, but we believe that is less than satisfactory for a last-16 draw in a competition as prestigious as the Carnegie Challenge Cup.”
'"
From the Oldham Chronicle. Fully Agree with what Chris Hamlilton says there.
He is actually expected to take Nigel Woods' when big nige leaves/explodes.

| I'm pleased with this draw, not because I think it is an "home banker", more to the fact that I enjoy playing Fax. Good set of fans and always a good match when you guys come to town. Would have been happy had it been at The Shay personally, always a nice ground to visit.
As mentioned previously, we have improved somewhat on last year as our league position suggests, but so have you- any team with Ben Black, Shad Royston, Sean Penkywicz and a host of other top players will make sure we don't have an easy day. Keighley got in our faces in the first half and our guys didn't like it, so if you do the same for the full 80 minutes it could be a real tough match. I would hope home advantage will work in our favour, but you just never know in the CC.
All the best in the league, hope to see you all at The Jungle come May!
