| What do you guys reckon then?
Thought both a bit sloppy at times a couple of promising stand outs for both teams.
Bit of handbags at the end with a couple sin bined

I agree, both sides were well below their best but Fev were the better of the two.
Hard to think of a Fax player that stood out whereas Crossley and James looked strong and Whitaker was probably the most dangerous of the backs.
Plenty of effort but very little created.

| Reminded me of last season especially that 2nd half. Was quite bored... The creative spark needs upping 10 fold. Still only a friendly so that might be a reason for the lack of intensity due to chopping and changing. Fev never looked in danger IMO.

Same old Fax under Harrison. Top man and a legend of the club, but I feel after being here now for a couple of years, its shown he is not a top coach or one that will get us winning things or playing attractive rugby. Various halfbacks and ball players and still the same old problem. I cant see us being in the top 2 this year unfortunately. I know its only a friendly but 30-12 is not good enough.

| Johnson Brown and Murrell virtually non existent all game
Murrell scored a good early try but that was about it for the day, Brown a good 40/20 but failed to find touch with a later penalty which is criminal, Johnson was appalling and wont solve your number 6 isssues for me
The forwards for fax failed to make too many inroads, Tonks was given a masterclass by Keegan Hirst today in how to make yards, Ambler was slightly better but nothing to write home about
Your strike players were non existent but they got very little ball
Fax did not score 1 point going down the slope in the second half and they didnt look like scoring in it either
I expected better from Fax and im sure better will come but id be worried if i was a fan as that looked a virtual first 13 barring worrincy out there today but correct if wrong
As for us, well for me, an early marker laid down against a division rival, with still a lot of quality to come in

| Thought the first 20 minutes where we were moving the ball we looked pretty good but it was almost as though a message went out to stop that as for the next 60 minutes we were very poor in attack.
We also seem to have become quite a niggly team and we give a lot of needless penalties away which does not help us. In defence we did not look organized and it seems players struggled to fathom out where they should be. Just hope the injuries to Murrell and Tonks are no that bad.
Ive really not seen anything so far that suggests we have caught Sheffield or Fev up in any way and we are going to struggle to compete for top 2 and will be fighting with Batley and Leigh for that third place.

| What a fickle lot you are, judge the coach and players when the season starts.

| After today I'm worried for this season in all honesty... Same trash from last year and half back still looks severely lacking.... Like I say a friendly none the less but realistically 4th - 5th is what we're looking at behind Sheffield, Fev, Leigh and us duelling with Batley....

I did not go today but I was puzzled why we picked to play one of our biggest rivals which would show our hand too early as well as give them a psychological lift if as I expected they beat us, why?
Yes it was ONLY a Friendly but as Karl said himself it was going to be like no normal Friendly yet we got well beat by the sound of it.
So again despite some at Fax saying Fev's demise is near they yet again prove otherwise, it is time like I put last year that we learn from clubs who are better than us namely Sheffield and Featherstone.
I hope this kicks us up the backside and things improve but I fear that we are still behind the top 2 which will prove hugely costly to us.

| It's not about being fickle or judging anyone or what may happen over a season it's about the display today.
If you were to pick a joint team from both sides I might put Fieldhouse in at 1 (dropped ball considered) and possibly Heaton or Cowling in one the centre births, the rest of the side would be from Rovers it's as simple as that so no point ignoring it.
As MM said apart from the penalty assissted first 20 we were ordinary and has Chris says boring.
Harrison did say today would show us were we are for good or for bad, it's up to him now to learn from it and do something about it.
No more excuses please.
We have changed our side round again but so have Fev.
When you think how much their side has changed over the last couple of years with key players over that time who were not on the park for them today involving Tonks, Dickings,Smeaton, Finn, Cain, Saxton etc and the entire coaching staff.

| Halifax really need to look at their half back options because the 3 they had on today apart from murrell in spurts did absolute nothing. Johnson has a go but Brown wont go anywhere near the line......

Blimey I hope you are all wrong and its not deja vu from the last 2 years, I hope the new guys prove us all wrong but Karl has gambled on two players at half back and that is exactly where you cannot afford to gamble they are the key positions.
