| Quote: Waddy-Fax "Fact is its too expensive. I know loads not going because it costs a small fortune, its cheaper to go to the Vue cinema and that's saying something.
Factor this with the dire rugby for the past few seasons with the exception of a few games and its not hard to see why crowds have dropped.'"
How is it too expensive when we paid £17 at Fev last week to stand on the bottom crumbling terrace.

So does 2 wrongs make a right so to speak. Its too expensive, I don't give a rats how much it is at Fev or Wigan or Barcelona. To take a family of say 4 to rugby its a huge chunk gone, especially away games. So people choose to spend it on other things and Fax lose out. For todays average joe I'd say rugby is on the list of things to go if cash becomes hard, sign of the times.

Its £5 for kids or you can get a Junior pass for £40 which gets them into ALL games home and away.
I know the club should try having a game where admission is less but lower entrance money has to come off their 'bottom line' so you need a crowd say twice as big as you would have if you did not have lower entrance money.
Its a catch 22.
I thought the system was it Hunslet used may work where like some football clubs you pay less for the less attractive games but nobody liked that and you have to chop and change at the turnstiles every other week.

| The key for now and the future is the children. Make them want to go to the game and they will pester the parents until they get to go. The trick is how do you make kids want to go?
For what it is worth this is my list and I have put ideas already mentioned also. Please add or improve.
The trick is making the parents feel they get value for money as well as making the kids wanting to go every week.
1) print player cards collectable ones, the players picture on the front and facts and stats for that player on the back. Print different pictures for each player or different backs to the cards. Each player carries their own cards on game day or special club related days the kids can ask the player for the cards. This encourages interaction. The kids have to get to the ground early if they want to get cards from players that are playing that week. Injured players or non playing players walk amongst the fans so the kids can get the cards from them. Mark a certain amount of the cards with something special, if you get a full squad of players in the special cards you win a big prise something that will get people talking and want to win. If you get a normal full squad then you get a wall poster.
2)make every home game a small carnival, put stalls out little fun games face painting, bouncy castle, ducking stool with a player or official on it again the key is player interaction.
3) on field skills games not always rugby related, egg and spoon, parent and child 3 legged race.
4) put live music on.
5) put pre matches on, local under 16 teams games on let people see potential players of the future.
Please add to the list.
You have to advertise all over.

| Over the last two seasons watching the occasional game at Leeds Utd there has been a fluctuation of match ticket prices for the games i've attended, last season for example we went to the Chelsea game in the Carling cup £36 and the Spurs game in the FA cup £20, several league fixtures varying between £24 - £31 and i've noted the games i've been to this season the "away" fans having to pay £36 at Elland rd. I know Leeds Utd isn't exactly the best business model in the district but such a vast price structure/options makes it easy for the casual speccie to pick & choose but i feel our b.o.d. have things correct with their advertised prices for admission. I guess last season's on-field performances did cost the club, myself opting for other interests including going to many gigs, the footy & boxing etc etc. I was also surprised to see £17 over the turnstile gate at Bigboys stadium last week to stand but they also complained about paying ( iirc ) £18 to sit in the Skircoat on seats covered in bird do-do & with obstructed viewing but that was a situation brought about by previous mis-givings. I thought it was good craic stood behind the stix last week in all fairness & i sincerely hope we can do it again but if i ever sit in the new "Scarborough seats end" and there's any sign of bird poo that's it i'll be bouncing lumps of coyal off Rotherhamfevfan, Fevgrinder & Dingong's bonces LOL
I firmly believe the club should stick with the advertised pricing, reducing the price would be suicidal, note Bradford's crowds flocking through the turnstiles now that their cheapo's have dried up ! If we are intending reducing admission prices, maybe we could advertise the fixture as Tonga Vs Italy and market the game for 10 or 12 months. So where are all these people ? Maybe we could sell tickets at a fiver but get people to fill in a form to ask why they can't attend league fixtures ? Let's face it, the last time we hosted the Bulls in that challenge cup tie, there were only about four or five thousand in the ground, a fixture that would have had Thrum Hall packed out, stood on as Fax4life quoted re: Fev's crumbling terraces..... We share fantastic community facilities at the Shay, if i could afford, I'd be on a diners package & on the beers every time i visited the rugby league games at the Shay, i really don't know what the club have to do to get folks in but I do believe it all starts with the product on the field & if our Chris_Smith's with four kids of our fanbase decide it's too boring to watch, we lose the legacy that he and myself were brought up with for the future of these kids missing out on going to watch their team with their dad.
New season, new players, new hope in my eyes.

| Reducing prices for individual matches will mean less season ticket holders.
The more season ticket holders the more the club can plan for the season.
Perhaps because Fax is my main hobby I feel £17 is fair, I also feel £5 per child is also good value.
Get a junior season ticket and they get free entrance to most away games.
Before some of you get hot under the collar I do see both sides, however Fax is my main hobby, for 25 years we lived in Leicester then Nottingham and hardly missed a game home or away, my self and two Halifaxjohn juniors.
With respect, the way forward is better advertising, try to get the missing crowds back and influence a new generation to look forward to match days.
In my humble opinion.

Lots of good ideas but it goes back to speculating to accumulate. The club would have to spend money that they seemingly have not got with no guarantee on return.
There is a seemingly easy way around it though, Im sure the club do it, but if they don't I have again mentioned many times what they could do. You want a bouncy castle for cheap or free how do you do it? Give them something in return that costs the club little or no money be that match tickets, bar passes or w/e.

| Having worked the last two weekends I was looking forward to tomorrow's game but will now be driving/supporting my eldest sons playing in Hull.
Frustratingly that's the two of us plus a number of his team mates missing tomorrow.

| I know I'll get jumped all over for this but I don't really care.
Look at Leigh and what a difference some new directors have made. Twitter and Facebook teaming with updates all day every day. We have tony Abbott who has made millions in marketing. Yet still struggle for any kind of social media awareness except a IPhone app which to be fair is pretty poor.
We have to get " in your face " marketing done and I'm afraid it's simply not happening. Some new blood in directors with fresh ideas and the impetus to follow them through. Up until about a year ago is never heard of Andy mazey, now he is everywhere on my Facebook, Twitter etc. new ideas that are gathering pace., they seem to be going forwards quick, whilst all I seem to hear from us is " sound the retreat"
Just my opinion, I'm a 33 year old bloke and unless we embrace the technologies available we are screwed. Posters just won't do it nowadays.

| There certainly seems to be a feel good factor around Leigh at the moment and they just need it to transfer in to bums(no disrespect intended) on seats. Our attempts at times could be considered shoddy and things like this have to be done well as the people running the club should know.
Its the little things done well that can make a big difference. Take for example the Your Club Needs You Videos, I think they are a very good idea but getting the running order of the questions wrong in what is a something like 3 minute video is poor at best and is both laughable and confusing for anyone other than Fax fans watching.

No I am with you all the way on this the App rarely gets updated these days. I also agree that you get jumped on for any criticism of the club they don't like it and have a siege mentality where nothing changes and we are all too negative and out to just have a go at them! Thing is you have to listen and sometimes you might not like what you hear but to close your eyes and ears and do nowt means you never improve and things stay the same.
I think the club are too reliant on the fans we have and take us for granted.
Cue a response putting me in my place but the club please note - you need to improve and target NEW fans otherwise our support will continue to drop and not increase, stop blaming us and get out and target new fans!
I have to add I am a HUGE fan of the club and do what I can to help where I can like getting 2 more down tomorrow who don't come all the time.

| The Club has to connect more to the local community. The club doesnt have a great reputation sadly and the handling of the rent and Shay for me could and should have been done better. The Board have done a very good job over the years and should be applauded for taking the club away from the dark days of 5 or 6 years ago. Its a shame that the scumbags over on Shaymen.net feel the need to badmouth and create as much negative press as possible for the club. But the club also has much to blame for the way things are, regarding the reputation of the club and the way things are regarding crowds etc.
The club, much like the game, is at a crossroads as to where it goes from here. The club really needs to promote itself better. Its OK using Twitter and social media to tell us whats going on etc but in the main its preaching to the converted. The loss of the daily courier is a massive blow for Fax and Town and something both clubs have not really recovered from. Linda Kitson for one has said the club (Players, Mascot etc) really need to get out in to the town centres of Halifax, Elland, Sowerby Bridge etc and take the club to the people way more than it has done. I must agree with her. I know the club are not loaded but such things dont cost that much money. Its OK Frank Watene going into Schools, but thats not enough and he is employed by the Council not the club. I think the club and board need to learn from some mistakes made. Tony Abbott mouthing off hasnt helped him or Fax this past few months. The club needs to somehow sell itself to a new audience as well as connect with the ex fans if it hopes to survive for me. If it doesnt crowds will keep dropping and the club will slowly go backwards down to the levels of Dewsbury, Batley etc who struggle for 1000 crowds

| I,m glad you brought that up.
How many rate payers in Calderdale actually know that a business man was prepared to buy a loss making weight on the council, guarantee reduced rents for both clubs with a secure future and to improve the ground.
If all the rate payers in Calderdale were asked to vote, would they stand against it.
Luddites rule o.k
Well done Town today, move up to 9th.
