Aye, I'm sure the Halifax club will be bankrupt if Sam Barlow loses his case to a poxy little club like Sheffield who get scared when more than 20 fans turn up. That, as I understand it, is exactly how life indeed works
None us can be d going to court so you won't 'see us in court', we're all off to Warrington instead

| Well done Halifax you were the better team on the night.
On the Barlow affair, as a supporter of another club I do recall reading prior to the game that the Sheffield club had told you he couldn't play due to the terms of his release. This doesn't need to be in the contract to be upheld in court as even a verbal agreement is legally binding in the eyes of the law.
As we all know the RFL have no balls whatsoever so they were never going to get too involved in this. What does surprise me is that iF Barlow had agreed not to play against Sheffield in 2010 then why didn't he have the guts, morally, to refuse to play. You may have still won and Barlow could have retained his dignity and honour.
A deal is a deal and to go against it because it's a play off game is a little low really. If you listen to Aston closely he uses terms like "integrity" and "honest" and in that he is dead right. It's well known in the game that Sheffield are a very well run club and others, including Halifax, struggle to even pay wages at times to players in full. This is not a dig at Halifax alone, more a comment on the sad state of affairs when no one has any honour any more.

So now Halifax FANS aren't doing things by the books? This is more serious than I thought.
We all hate our team and when we do, do so illegally. Well that's us told.
You do know it's not the circus court of comedy don't you? I wouldn't say it was THAT funny. A simple 'haha' maybe, but that's a serious laughing fit over a court case. The world is always simpler through young, innocent eyes though I guess.

At least you understand the point. I personally don't agree with Barlow's decision and rightly, even if he just said he wouldn't play, then he shouldn't have. But a lot of the Sheffield fans on here still seem to think that Halifax have done something wrong, even after asking the RFL if it was ok and them saying it was. The agreement was clearly between Barlow and Sheffield, not Halifax and Sheffield. It's not rocket science to see who is in the wrong here.

| Could you imagine Wayne Bennett saying "don'y worry Sam, I don't care what you said to them you're playing". I think the Sheffield fans see Halifax as looking for a loophole to get round playing Barlow. I hope that's how they see it as I don't think for one minute that Halifax would deliberately "cheat" especially with what happened in the CC.
I think it's a moral issue really between the two clubs, although it is definitely a legal issue between Sam Barlow and Sheffield Eagles. If I was Sam's coach there is no way I would let him play if I knew he had made the agreement with Sheffield that allowed him to join my club. We try to take the moral high ground over other sports and this kind of thing just shows us to be as bad as everyone else.
I use the word "us" in the rugby league family sense.
