I thought that the great TF had stopped watching SL, (wash my mouth out)? Plenty of pontificating about it in the close season and before then, with many a declamation that you would not be watching any SL games thereafter.

I can safely say, justthebasicfax, that no one whatsoever on rlfans.com has a clue who I am, apart from a crazed whino fan who introduced me to this place many a moon ago! As for blind faith and being in the minority ... maybe so, but the so called majority aren't always right. For the record, the only Fax coaches I have ever bagged because I thought they were inept were Peter Roe and Anthony Farrell, all the others I thought had something about them. Weaknesses of course, but still capable coaches (Yep, even TA). But we all have our different views eh? Go ahead, hound Calland out, but it will be a mistake, as no doubt we'll be having this same tiresome debate in a couple of years time about the next poor sod who has taken on this poisoned chalice.

More rubbish? It's my first post on the subject!
And just because you [idon't[/i happen to agree with them, it doesn't make yours the right view either.

| Without knowing the facts how can fans make the 'assumption' its all MCs fault!!!
-Is it Mr Hall?
- is it player upset from new signings effecting group dynamics, these things are for the coach to sort but even the best need time to do this?
- is it just massive bad luck?
- is it just how the fixtures have fallen against massively on form teams whilst we are still finding our feet?
To openly boo and criticise MC without knowing the facts (the BODs will know) is extremely naive and foolish, this lesson should have been learnt when TG left the club!

For any of the younger posters on here Thrum Hall was electric and we had a greater variety of songs, it was an immense atmosphere thats never been replicated at the Shay.
Figure it out yourself, cos i sure aint gonna sing how much i love them when they are waving defenders through and spilling the ball. But if they are giving it their all, Ill be there, if they need a lift ill be there, Ive seen nothing lately to inspire me though.'"
So our fans sing when we are in a grand final, playing a super league team or are on holiday? Exactly my point, other teams fans sing every week and have a great atmosphere both home and away. All i'm saying is we clearly don't have that and its a shame

Surely its times of hardship when the players need us behind them most? We have about 10 fans who sing regularly. It seemed all the Leigh fans were singing last week ad it was summed up when they sang your suppose to be at home. Ok we didnt have much to sing about but their fans sing whatever.'"
Hmmmmm .... the Leigh fans were very quiet last season when we were giving them a thrashing, and we were singing that porky and penky song. Hmmmm ... and we were quiet when they were thrashing us last week and they were singing and all that. Now ...... there's a pattern here but I just can't quite put my finger on it!

I am indeed very well known to the club. I'm a fan. Have been since 1984. I am indeed annoyed - i would have liked to have started off this season unbeaten to date.
You mention Man Utd and Alex Ferguson. he joined United in November 1986. In 1988 they finished second in the table. Won nowt. In 1989 they finished 11th and won nowt. In 1990 United's league form nose dived further. Lost 5–1 in an away defeat against Manchester City. Following this and an early season run of six defeats and two draws in eight games, a banner declaring "Three years of excuses and it's still crap. Ta ra Fergie." was displayed at Old Trafford, and many journalists and supporters called for Ferguson to be sacked.
Surely United should have sacked Fergie at that point?
But you're right - we're not United. We are little old Halifax - making our way in difficult times. As paying fans we also have the right to criticise poor performances. All i'm saying is - look at the long game. 2015 is our real target year. We need more money, we need a youth set up and we need bigger attendances. That's the real hurdle here. I still believe we have the right people at board level to ensure that we give it our best shot. The current hurdle cannot be overcome by the coach alone. Whether Matt is here or not - the players have to look at themselves and their recent performances because they are better than that.
Good luck today Fax - i am unable to attent due to a bad ankle injury but i'll be there in spirit. Here's to blind faith

theres only really Leigh, Fev and Widnes that make more noise than us, so were not that bad really, just not quite as loud as we once were, probably a lot of it has to do with the amount of points we ship, even when winning. Be nice to shut out teams now and then. but i do remember Thrum Hall days when it was 80 mins of non stop singing and we would go away from home and regularly out sing todays top SL boys, 'Shall we sing a song for you' 'your supposed to be at home' etc. etc. some good days, a lot of those folks just dont feel its the same now, or have fallen out of love with Fax, would be nice to get them back. But its gonna take some improvements on the playing side to get more down. Its gotta start somewhere.

Similar sentiments to my own with regards to the club's fortunes & future. I'm also well known to the people who run the club and many fans who post on this messageboard.
I get really annoyed by the attitudes of some people who think sacking the coach is the answer, but I'm all for hearing other people's opinions and believe in freedom of speech.
None of us can be correct all of the time with our differing views on the game, but I do believe that the club is in very good hands and it's a while since we've had such a strong board of directors like we currently have.
Today's attendance will give a fair pointer as to the loyalty of our support given that Toulouse won't bring any support of worthy note and the competition in the marketplace with bank holiday monday choc-a-block with other matches and tv broadcasts. Our crowds have been very healthy so far this season so far, but tonight will give a true reflection especially after our three most recent results on the field.

I dare say we had double the crowds then though and we were all packed in which in itself I think creates an atmosphere.
